Pros

Most physician colleagues are kind and approachable.

Cons

Physician well-being is not a priority. Constantly demand more despite continually exceeding thresholds. Poorly managed at all levels of the organization. Compensation well below MGMA 50%. Bonus not achievable by design. Recommend avoiding unless you are nearing retirement with this to be your last job. Do not expect any compensation outside of guaranteed salary. New graduates and early career physicians should avoid this hospital.

Pros

SGMC’s ONLY - (PRO) “If you could call that“ would have to be it’s vicinity, and that’s only if you live in the area. If you don’t live in the area it’s not worth driving to

Cons

1. Management does not have your back! They are much too concerned with their own back’s! 2. Salaries for almost every position in the hospital are substandard! When you take the same positions and compare them with neighboring hospitals in the northern part of the state or even just in middle Georgia you’ll find that the hourly rate is severely off balance. Discussing your pay rate with your coworker is an offense that is punishable by termination, that’s how secretive they want the fact that they are cheating their employees kept a secret! 3. This facility cares nothing about seeing your a T. New management that is been brought in in recent years feels that the older employees are a weight and burden that the facility must eliminate in order to grow and prosper. They don’t take into consideration the fact that these senior employees are the backbone of the facility and are the ones that built SGMC into what once was a great place to receive quality, patient centered care, And it was a great place to work even though they never quite could get the salary situation taken care of. 4. Job security doesn’t exist! Example: if someone in upper management such as a department director or supervisor does not like you or for whatever reason feels that you don’t fit in the organization the way they think you should fit into the organization they will work tirelessly to remove you from the organization. They will take policies and procedures and twist and turn and burn them to create whatever is necessary to scrape you off of SGMC’s payroll. So again JOB SECURITY does not exist at South Georgia Medical Center. I could go on and on, but if after reading these four points you still feel that SGMC SOUTHSIDE place for you to work then by all means fill out the application and then full steam ahead. But you can’t say you weren’t warned

Pros

The Benefits are great, the people are wonderful (with a few grumpy folks). the Pharmacy Administration is very caring and very particular, they will work with you if your kiddos are sick, or if you are sick.

Cons

Pay is horrible, they said they compared us to regional hospitals, however when you have a Bachelor's Degree, Certified and Registered and only get paid 11.00 / hr its pretty ridiculous. Upper level adminitration doesn't know how to handle / manage money. They are constantly building and buying other hospitals.. Which adds to the workload yet no raises or no new people are being hired to take care of new patients.. Patient care / satisfaction is horrible probably because employee moral is bad. Overall this is a great place to work if you like to Kiss Up and Brown nose you will go far.. I always just put my head down and work my tail off to earn my keep.
