Pros

No professionalism or Ambition required

Cons

There is a total detach from corporate office to employees in the field, due to this factor the whole system is lacking in so many ways that it fosters resentment as well as encourages valuable employees to flee. One will conclude that in SHPs effort to be profitable they will under-staff as well as underpay at certain levels, while other levels are over payed/under supervised and this of course adds stress at all levels of the company. Employees with any initiative have zero chance of anyone listening to thoughts or suggestions. There is a culture of stagnation that is induced by this mentality. "if nobody cares and no one is watching then why should I care" The corporate office mentality is " we have the system and there is no time or need for your input nor is there anyone interested in listening" (assimilate) Should one manage to make themselves heard, you will most likely be treated to a deluge of rude email responses of titanically unprofessional proportions. This is a fine way to insure that a company will certainly never grow or change with the times, clearly evident by the lack of IT systems newer than windows 98! (kidding) but seriously the systems in place are monotonous and antiquated along with poorly managed by a sparsely populated and educated IT department. example: wifi is not allowed in 2017 in recreational areas where an internet hard wired connection is already located and paid for. Really? SHP do you operate in an alternate universe where technology is so advanced that basic security measures are impossible? Or perhaps your not advanced or too paranoid to use a simple wifi modem securely. Or are you so rigid that you can not allow responsible people that you have screened and employed to have access to wifi? Is the quality of your employees so poor due to mismanagement? The culture and morale is so bad that supervision quality is very unstructured and undisciplined, yet micro managed in areas that are simply not necessary. The result: management position revolving door syndrome has set in Its so bad, criminal activity is ignored due to lack of staff education and quality. "It would be too hard and too much work to prosecute" If one is looking for a position that requires you to have zero ambition as well as the ability to put forth minimal effort while catching up on your beauty sleep along with being directly insulted via email, then SHP is waiting for you. So who is affected the most? That's right! YOUR Grandma and Grandpa and anyone that lives in buildings they have the responsibility of overseeing.

Unfair Company

Pros

salary, benefits, bonus and training

Cons

Company does not back you up or support you. Relies on supervisors/ employees who have become complacent. NEVER gives the employee the benefit of doubt and NEVER gives due process when defending ones integrity. Borderline abuse in the work place...no one to report to due. The owner has NO CLUE what really goes on in the work environment. Company would rather pay off discriminatory/ law suite cases than stand behind the honesty of their employees . Company seems to be ok with "if it looks good" attitude. Disgrace.

Pros

Corporate office is small and there is a good culture of people genuinely caring about each other. They hold many events for group bonding/socializing and are flexible for family/personal things that may come up. Dress code is casual - clean jeans or shorts and sandals are acceptable. Can generally count on a bonus at the end of the year. Vacation time is about average - 10 days for first five years of service, 15 days after five years of service. They do close the corporate office for bad weather, so no driving during snowpocalyse.

Cons

They pay staff at the properties very well, but pay at the corporate office for professional staff is below average for the area. Corporate office is also small (not many positions) so don't bet on moving up the ranks since people at the top have been here for decades and aren't leaving any time soon. Not a good place if you're looking for advancement. In-house record keeping is very behind the times - dozens of excel spreadsheets, a disorganized network drive, and no central data base for reporting. Suggestions to modernize have been met negatively by those at the top.
