Pros

Very interesting people and hunger for knowledge. Cutting edge research in many areas of theoretical Physics, with an emphasis on quality research and publications

Cons

Lack of interest in helping students with their future careers, a very narrow view of the challenges faced by people in the academic world today and no program to help students find alternative solutions

Pros

Friendly environment, some top researchers in Math and Physics, some also in Neuroscience but trickier, Prospects good

Cons

Some messy situations in Neurobiology sector, Neuroscience is good but requires careful choice of PI. Collaboration between sectors or even groups is rare, expecially in Theoretical Physics sector, to my knowledge.

SISSA pro and cons

Business outlook

Pros

Prestigious institution. Very good physics and math departments. multidisciplinary environment, kindergarten, nice location, lively and quiet town, sea, mountains, nature and facilities.

Cons

Depend on the research group. In neurobiology there is small collaboration between groups, high pressure, small guidance, very few students publish at the end of the phd, no holidays, no weekends, limited opportunity to go to summer schools, conferences and workshops.
