Thank you VERY much for your review! First of all, we never had a "Sales Executive" in Bala Cynwyd, PA that worked with us for under 1 year. So, as we look into whether this review is real, I will respond to the points made. Point 1: No Support / Training for Team I’m not sure how to convey this politely, but this is false. We invest a lot into training and supporting our team. For example, we have an internal sales training, marketing training and management training university for our internal team and clients. We have over 1000 “how to” videos and an entire online procedure database for every single process in our company. Perhaps, how fast we move as a company is being misinterpreted as “no support / training”. Due to the speed in which we operate, sometimes we won’t have time to hold your hand and walk you through every single procedure, step-by-step. If you’re looking for 24/7 hand-holding, we’re not your company. We don’t like micromanagement. We move FAST, hence why we have grown (and continue to grow) so quickly as a company. This growth provides our most committed team members unlimited promotional opportunities. We’ve had people join our company at an entry level position, and become in charge of a department in under 90 days. Lastly, we hire people who tell US what to do...not the other way around. If you have more experience than we do in something, why would we force you to follow OUR processes? If you know more than us about something, you create the training and the system. We’ll listen and adapt to YOUR expertise. Point 2: Constant Changes in What We Sell/ Packages This statement is true. We ARE constantly changing, optimizing and improving our products to better fit consumer needs. We’re not some company that sells the same thing year-after-year. We are CONSTANTLY innovating. CONSTANTLY looking around corners. CONSTANTLY surveying our clients to find what unserved needs of theirs we can help with. CONSTANTLY designing new and better solutions that produce the best possible results for our clients. We don’t make cookie-cutter products that never change. That’s not us. We don’t care about what’s profitable for us (like most other agencies). We care about what has the biggest positive impact on our clients' businesses. And, we won’t stop innovating. Ever. Point 3: Mediocre Digital and “Coaching” Similar to point 1, this point is false. It also seems whoever wrote this review had a hard time finishing sentences. “Mediocre digital” what? SMB Team offers the best of the best marketing management and coaching programs for law firms doing under $5M/yr in revenue. Better than me talking us up, go on Google and type in “SMB Team Reviews”. There, you can read 150+ written 5-star reviews of our services on our Google profile and other online profiles. This doesn’t include the 50+ video testimonials we have received just in the past year. Go on our YouTube channel. Watch them. Read the reviews. Watch the videos. They are life-changing! I can’t make this up. At the time of this writing, 16 of our 80 firms we coach doubled their revenues in under 12 months! That is something we are very proud of. Also with the average client quadrupling their money with our marketing services over the course of 1 year, we know the impact we’re having. I believe this last point was merely an opinion that you wrote in a state of frustration. Point 4: No Direction I can’t even comment on this piece of feedback. Our entire company runs on clear annual plans, with a clear and documented 3 year vision and quarterly goals assigned to each person, department and the company as a whole. If there’s one thing we’re abundant on, it’s direction. Point 5: Cult-Like Atmosphere A cult is a group of people with shared beliefs. A culture is a group of people with shared beliefs. The word cult is included in the word CultURE. If you read our other reviews on Glassdoor, you’ll see we do have a VERY STRONG culture. Our culture is probably our biggest differentiator. It is what makes SMB Team such an amazing place to work (for the right people).

Pros

Some of the people who work here are stellar. You will meet really amazing, dedicated, and hard working people on every team.

Cons

SMB has a high review on Glassdoor because they badger you to make a review within 2 weeks fo starting the job, and you are too scared to ruffle feathers. Looking back, I would change my review in a heartbeat, so I am doing it now. I wouldn't mind working 50 to 60 hours a week if my manager seemed appreciative of the extra work I put in. Our team rarely gets any appreciation from our direct reports, which is terrible for morale. They pride themselves on promoting from within, but it is very clear that people who have worked there in the same role for 3+ years are being overlooked at every growth opportunity. The company loves to hire talent from competing firms as our VPs, directors, and team leads, instead of moving up the staff who truly deserve recognition. They are dishonest about turnover rates in interviews. When I first applied, they told me that SMB has a near 0% turnover rate. In my time working here, whole departments have been let go overnight. Bill is not a bad guy, but who he appoints as leaders within his company is questionable. There are people who have passionately supported your company for years. It's a shame that the shiny new object is more exciting to you than your overworked but loyal employees. As a newer member, this makes me feel like I will be stuck in the same role forever if my predecessors can't get promotions. SMB makes you sign an agreement that prohibits you from talking to any ex-employee, why do you think that is? It's a widely believed theory that SMB is unprofitable, so they are building quickly in order to sell. However, this is just my speculation because of how I was treated, and how I see other departments being treated.

This is Bill Hauser (CEO) writing this response personally. First of all, THANK YOU so much for the review! As you know one of our core values is "radical transparency". Without you speaking up we can't improve. So, thank you!! And, thank you for calling out the amazing, dedicated, and hard working people you met on EVERY team at this company. I couldn't agree more. We do have truly spectacular people. If anyone thinks our Glassdoor reviews are from "newer" employees, please scroll through our Glassdoor profile to see the length of tenure for the reviews on our profile. Keep in mind, our company at the time of this writing is only 6 years old. Regarding the near 0% turnover you mentioned, I am sorry, but it seems you misunderstood what we told you! That statistic is related to the fact that almost nobody QUITS working for our company, due to the amazingness of our culture. This is part of the reason we were rated the 71st best place to work by Fortune magazine last year (through a deep vetting process). I apologize if this was not clear. We NEVER intend to mislead anyone around this amazing stat. If someone violates our core values, treats their teammates badly, or does something unethical, we DO have to let them go to stand up for our core values (otherwise our values mean nothing). And, if someone is not performing in their role (and there are no other roles available), we do occasionally have to let people go after months of trying to coach them to improve through our “plan for excellence” process, which I believe is more than fair. When you have an amazing team like we do, we owe it to everyone to make sure everyone is a high-performer (so you LOVE who you get to work with every day, like you said above). As a company that offers unlimited PTO, I am curious as to how you were working 50-60 hour weeks, as that is not common. Most of our team is quite disciplined about their schedule and is able to finish work at a consistent time daily, so I am curious as to how that occurred. I am also curious as to how you felt underappreciated by your manager when we are one of the only companies I know who shares team member gratitudes every morning on our daily huddle. Please email me to explain more regarding the 2 items above. I want to learn the details as this seems unusual and I want to solve it (bill@smbteam.com). The fact that we hired some AMAZING, experienced team members this year was vital for this phase of our company’s growth. In a professional sports team, the majority of the players on a championship winning team have massive levels of experience. To go from 100 employees (now) to 500 (next chapter of growth), requires extremely advanced skills, not all of which can be learned in a company that is 1/5th the size of where we’re going. Many of our team members are grateful for our experienced new hires, since they get to learn from “rocket scientist” level people, which helps our team develop their own skills faster, to better their futures and careers. It’s a lot better than working for someone who doesn’t know what they’re talking about. In addition, we promoted over 15 people in just the last few months. So, just because we hired some experienced people does not mean we’re also not promoting internally! Lastly, I’m not sure where you learned this theory that “we’re building quickly in order to sell.” But, it’s not true. Actually, we're looking to BUY companies :). We were the 641st fastest growing company in America this year, and #729 last year according to INC 5000 because we LOVE what we do and the value we provide. And, because of the results our clients get with our unique mix of services, we believe we MUST get more people signed up with us so they can experience the transformation that we create. Again, please email me (bill@smbteam.com), with any other thoughts you may have. And, thanks again for sharing!!! - Bill Hauser

This is Bill Hauser, the CEO personally writing this response. First of all thank you for speaking out in your review. I am happy to hear you found your co-workers nice and the workload easy to manage, but I am disappointed to read about the challenges you faced during your time here. First, if anyone pressured you to leave a 5-star review, please personally email me at Bill@smbteam.com with details of what happened so I can immediately address whoever did this. We believe in a culture of honesty and transparency and would never compromise that in any way. Thank you for bringing this up, and I apologize you felt this way. I want to take ownership around the lack of process management. As a rapidly growing and newer company, we do have room for improvement in this area. On one end of the spectrum there are companies that are ALL process driven, but suck the life out of their team by holding them to strict standards. On the other end of the spectrum, there are creative-driven companies that allow more flexibility for how things get done. We tend to be a more creative company, which means we’re more flexible and allow more autonomy to our team. Keep in mind, we grew from nothing to 70+ employees in 5 years (from a start up)! You also listed me (the CEO) as a negative to working here. You didn’t go into detail, so it’s hard for me to respond to this. I can say with certainty that I (like most people) don’t get along with every person I have met in my life. Perhaps I rubbed you the wrong way or maybe you just don’t like me? Either way, I appreciate you calling it out! One of my top goals in our culture is to create an environment where everyone can be 100% themselves. I want to build a culture where we treat people great, but we're not worried about being liked. I want a culture where everyone on our team can be authentic to themselves, and where we all respect people for their own unique quirks and ways of doing things. So, thank you for reminding me of this! Regarding the concerns you raised about our communication with clients, I want to make it clear we would NEVER lie to our clients about the unique offerings of our company (which ARE unique). In sales, you have to convey value to get someone to buy your product or service. Perhaps you are comparing how we frame our sales pitch around the outcomes that our clients want vs. the process-based delivery of what we do? I’m not sure, but I do know we don’t lie to clients as it would directly conflict with more than half of our core values as a company. If there was any blatant lying that I am unaware of, email me personally at bill@smbteam.com with examples, so I can address whoever specifically you’re referring to on our team, as that is NOT tolerated here. Finally, I want to address your concerns about our virtual events and webinars. SMB Team runs the largest virtual events in the legal industry. Every year, we get 10’s of thousands of lawyers at our events. And, YES… we sell things at our virtual events, so that we can stay in business. We believe in what we sell because of the results we get for our clients. I am sensing that because of A) your resistance to our sales pitch and B) you calling our virtual events/ webinars scammy, that perhaps you have a resistance to sales in general? I will admit that we are a sales-focused company, and some people won't like that. And, I appreciate you speaking out about it! I would highly encourage anyone reading this to please attend one of our virtual events or webinars to see for yourself. They really are world-class events and the best in the industry for a reason. We have nothing to hide, so see for yourself if our webinars are "scammy". In conclusion, I REALLY appreciate your feedback and take it seriously. I acknowledge we are not perfect, but we are committed to continuously improving our culture and addressing the concerns of our current and former team members. Thank you again, and I welcome any further feedback you may have. Please email me! Stay Great, Bill Hauser
