No proper working shifts and not worth it for unpaid travelling and unpaid time and expense of charging equipment.
Pros
Paid for training days and sometimes for traveling directly from one job to another
Cons
terrible working conditions no regular hours lucky to get 1 regular shift each week (60-90 minutes) if you are offered other classes it is one off usually covering for someone else and travelling long distance. Although you get highest pay rate for using your own car, in the cities and towns and older schools there is no car parking in schools have to rely on public carparks and usually a distance away and then transport all the equipment to school( adds travelling time to around 2 hours to look for parking) several colleagues had cars clamped as parking in city centre areas only 1 hour. Unrealistic times for class 10 minutes for build, 10 minutes for pack up, there are no accommodations in place for students who may need extra help with instructions or build. Sadly staff burn out quickly due to unrealistic timeframes for each class. Lesson plans are not clearly written, equipment not labelled, iPads in poor working condition. Mentors have to charge iPads and robot battery packs before each class 12 to 16 of each which takes several hours and you are not paid for electricity or these hours. Also the lack of regular hours and travelling time, preparation and charging equipment and sporadic extra classes mean that you can't take on other regular employment.
