Pros

The community is great and the faculty, for the most part, are invested in the students. It is a great location if you enjoy winters. It's about an hour away from Monteal, Burlington, VT and is surrounded by great mountains.

Cons

However, they do not give adjuncts the respect they deserve. Almost 40% of the classes across campus are taught by adjuncts, which means the whole institution could not function with out them. The pay is low and the work, semester to semester, is not consistent.

Pros

Nice students: motivated and enthusiastic, good benefits

Cons

Unfair treatment of teachers. A university that celebrates only scholarly isolated work by tenure-track instructors (who can be liberated of teaching load for university service or research) and abandons lecturers who do most of the teaching (8 courses per year regardless the university service or research). The tenure track personal, who is mainly concern with his/her research, publication, next sabbatical, and disconnected from the student reality, do not care for student evaluations and opinions because they are never evaluated as instructors. They don’t have to work in a team, and be nice to their co-workers. They are basically above everybody. By contrast, lecturers with the same qualifications, are constantly and relentlessly evaluated by the tenure track and doing more and more university service to keep their positions. Lecturers and adjuncts are treated as a second-class citizens.
