Best employer ever

Pros

No dramas. Empathy. They care about people: employees, clients, and partners. Work-life balance. Transparency in salary grid. Forward thinking. Innovation is encouraged. Very easy to start a project that'll be integrated into the main product. All-hands meetings are actually fun.

Cons

Some parts of the tech stack are a bit dated. Probably not the best place to work for if you only want to work with the latest and hottest trend.

Talented people, but leadership culture demands loyalty over contribution

Pros

The company has a talented and thoughtful group of people across design, development, and product teams, and offers opportunities to work on meaningful and challenging projects. It can be a good place to gain experience early in your career if you navigate the internal politics carefully.

Cons

Career progression depends more on personal alignment with the CEO than on the quality of work or contributions. Although leadership publicly encourages open dialogue, disagreement is discouraged in practice and critical thinking is often quietly dismissed. The CEO maintains strong opinions across all departments and expects alignment rather than open debate. Employees who fall out of favor with the CEO or his close circle are often quietly laid off, even with strong performance, without an opportunity to say goodbye to their teams. Those individuals are typically required to sign severance agreements that prevent them from speaking openly about their experiences. As a result, a culture of fear and silence persists internally, while externally the company maintains a public image that no longer reflects its internal reality.

Pros

Safe provides a great work environment for its employees. The company is full of smart, friendly people and management encourages and promotes work life balance. Working at Safe provides a good balance the flexibility and excitement of working at a Start-up with the stability of a company that has been around for 20+ years.

Cons

Location may be inconvenient for some, there is a lack of nearby amenities.

It is pretty cool that Safe has managed to maintain the same sense of excitement that started almost a quarter of a century ago (wow!). It's true that we aren't located in the middle of a metropolitan area like Vancouver - for many that is part of the charm - but we are glad that hasn't been a show stopper for you. Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback - always great to hear what our team members are thinking!
