Pros

Learned a ton, always was challenged, really great for a young person starting out - work hard, but don't stay longer than a year and know your value and rights as an employee. Wonderful outlook and passion but poor practices.

Cons

I worked over 80 hours a week for less than $40k. I went into debt working this job and although the founders are nice ladies and extrememly passionate - they are willingly blind to the basic and fundamental parts of taking care of their employees. You receive beautiful meals, but don't have healthcare - you have access to an amazing network of people, but can't afford to maximize them because your workload is oppressive. I managed the complete operational side of this company and never made enough to live. Expect to do a lot of grunt work while the founders focus on branding and making things beautiful. I also never rose above an associate level although I was the go-to for almost anything and everything. By the time I left I was suffering panic attacks, and would be openly crying in the office - I think they ignored my troubles to avoid the awkwardness, or they knew no one else was available to do the work. Like I said, MW I worked 6am-6pm, TTh I worked 9-6pm, and F I worked 6am to 2am (in the morning), Sat 6-10am, Sun 6pm-10pm. Every week, always on call if the office, kitchen, or deliveries teams had trouble.

Pros

Beautiful office, free food. That's literally it.

Cons

Hiring managers essentially lied during a FOUR-step interview process in terms of expectations. Was told a couple of months in that we would put in 60 hours a week including late nights and weekends with additional on-call hours because of being part of a start-up. I was making LESS than minimum wage with no healthcare. Lunch breaks were frowned upon. Of course they offer unlimited PTO because you'd never feel like you could actually take it.

Pros

- free Sakara meals - beautiful Soho office - small tight knit team - fun events and outings

Cons

- Expected to work 60-80+ hours per week without any overtime pay--- this was thought to be completely normal - Management was not honest upfront about what the role would truly entail - Was moved from the Soho office to the warehouse in Brooklyn without any notice that this was going to happen. Was tasked with “setting up” our fulfillment center which meant renting a car and moving product from our office to Brooklyn. Would have NEVER taken a job here knowing this would happen. When I brought up the topic of switching to a customer service role I was told I would have to re-interview--- had already worked at the company assisting the customer service team for 8 months. - Operations Associate is another name for a Fulfillment Associate—you will be packing boxes, unloading palettes, labeling product, and doing other tasks of this nature. When I started, I was told I was going to be working in the Soho Office working on a multitude of projects. Was hoping to receive guidance and training from higher-ups-- that does not and will not happen. Everyone is consumed in their own roles and does not take the time to offer help. Was almost scared to ask questions fearful that I would be looked down upon. - Expected to train fulfillment associates and oversee the fulfillment process without any proper training for myself. - Asked to do tasks that did not pertain to my job-- was willing to get my hands dirty as it is a start up but only to a certain degree - Growth is not an option here - Very high turnover rate: 5+ people have left this year
