Pros
When I flew out my very first 3 days, I was a bit of a nervous wreck walking into the office — you know, that “first day of school” feeling where you wonder if you’ll sit alone at lunch. But I think after about 15minutes of meeting the team, it all went away. Everyone was warm, genuine, and easy to talk to. Had suchhh a great time. I was sad that I had to leave.
The work itself has been challenging and rewarding. My product manager is not only brilliant and strategic, but she also understands design on a hands-on level, which makes collaboration easy and productive. The cofounder I work with regularly is equally sharp, and both of them bring deep knowledge of our product and customers, which has been absolutely critical in my onboarding and early success. The work we’re doing comes with unique challenges, and the customers we serve have unique needs, so having their insights and experience guiding me has made all the difference. The CEO also leads by example, and you can see their “customers first” approach in the way decisions are made.
This is my third startup, so I know what it’s like to work in a fast-paced environment — and honestly, that’s part of what drew me here, along with their product. Things move quickly, but there’s also flexibility in how you work, as long as you put in the effort. For me, that flexibility has been a big help in staying focused and doing my best work.
I think our all-hands are pretty cool, where new employees introduce themselves(There's a funny part in there.), we get transparent updates on the latest company progress, and there’s time for Q&A. I have weekly 1-on-1s with both my PM and cofounder, and those chats aren’t just about tasks; they’re genuine check-ins.
The engineering team is amazing(and hilarious and super talented) I don't know how they're able to develop the designs into production so darn fast...and there’s a real sense that everyone here wants each other to succeed. Even as a new hire, it’s been easy to connect with people across the company and see how talented, collaborative, and passionate they are.
I feel lucky to be part of such a fast-growing team, and I’m uber excited to see where we’ll be in a few years. Before my interview, I watched videos of Justin(CEO) discussing the company's vision and the importance of being customer-focused. It's a great feeling that we're pretty obsessed with our customers =)..
I am inspired by what we are building and grateful to contribute. Did i write too much?
Cons
They are located in Atlanta, which isn't a Con. But I enjoyed my time at the office. So I wish they relocated to the D.C area. =P
