Pros

Its a job that pays pretty good.

Cons

It's a job that pays pretty good, until you realize what you have gotten yourself into. My role was working as a field agent visiting small business accounts that were actively accepting or not accepting AMEX from their customers. Doing the job for me was actually fine and I enjoyed meeting with business owners for a few minutes and learning about what they did if time permitted and then executing the purpose for the visit. Immediate supervisor/monitor has zero authority and is only there to communicate silly policies rolled out by upper management that could have otherwise been covered in an email. Every person in our region working over 6 months were deflated and felt unappreciated. In a nutshell, they treat the field agents like small children with GPS tracking, point system for taking actual accrued sick days because you did not give a 3 day notice telling them you would be sick “I kid you not!” There are some good people in different areas within the company but in my experience, the weirdness, disorganization and mix messages start somewhere up top. I worked with integrity, had no quality control issues and suffered through recycled records that were duplicates and closed accounts. Morale is non-existent and they will openly lie to your face to get what they want out of you.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts about your experience with our company. We value constructive feedback as it helps us improve in all areas. As a Sales and Marketing Outsourcing company, we have separate negotiated contracts with each of our Clients. However, all clients want and expect their authorized reps/agents to work full-time (8 hours a day Monday-Friday). And understandably so, since it is in the contract that all of their assigned reps/agent would work full-time, especially for a good salary as you noted above (thank you). As you know, most reps/agents work remotely and the managers have multi-sate regions and have to manage on average 15 geographically separated employees with dedicated territories. Therefore, one on one time with each rep/agent may only be a couple days a month. This is why we look for people who are comfortable working remotely and who are self-motivated, energetic, driven to succeed, and ambitious. We have all of our field employees sign a performance expectations document agreeing they will be in their territory from 9am to 5pm Monday-Friday. Unlike Inside Salespeople, we can not see when the field employees get to work (assigned territory) and leave. With our Clients paying for full-time employees we have to make sure and have a way to prove this contractual requirement is being met. Our clients also expect reasonable attendance. Our new Attendance Policy was reviewed/edited by our national law firm and it is the same type of policy is used by many Fortune 500 companies. I hope this clarifies some of your issues and concerns about our company. I am sorry you had a bad experience with us and that we were not a fit for you. If we can address any specific issues you have or had please feel free to contact our HR Department.

Pros

I learned how not to act and what not to do when running an organization.

Cons

I worked for this company for 2 years and quit several months ago. I debated on leaving a review because I was happy to be able to put this company behind me and fortunate enough to have been given the opportunity to have an actual career in place prior to leaving. After reading so many other reviews, I wanted to share my experience in my tenure as most employees don’t make it two years. To sum up the title, I was told that I would work from home until American Express hired me directly. You’ll never be hired by Amex and you’re threatened if you submit a record outside of a certain range of a location. You are very micromanaged with unclear expectations. Yes, the pay might be slightly above industry standard. However, once you start adding in gas, mileage and damage to your vehicle; the salary plus $400/mo doesn’t come close to covering your expenses. Perfect example: when I acquired 4 additional territories in addition to mine, I was denied additional/proper compensation. I was getting my oil changed every 2 weeks (synthetic oil blend 5,000 mile) although I showed management receipts for recurring monthly expenses, I was refused additional salary. Below is a breakdown of receipts I tried to present: Gas- $130/wk depending on the price of gas = $520 Oil change: $65 twice a month = $130 Minimum Monthly Expenses: $650/mo Allowance $400 Difference = -$150/mo Not to mention how fast you go through tires and need regular scheduled maintenance more often due driving so many miles, flat tires, etc.. it adds up quickly. Take that information and add it to the fact that I had 4 other territories that had been heavily mismanaged, I started to go into debt trying to keep up. Although, I expressed my concerns on multiple occasions, I was made to feel lucky that I had a job. I’ve read so many reviews about recycled records, which is true, pressure about numbers and people being forced into making unethical decisions to meet unrealistic expectations in fear of losing their job, ALL SO VERY TRUE. The list really does go on and on. When reflecting, this was almost a hostile work environment and I’m very happy to be gone. In closing, the only constant with this company are the terrible reviews and “fake news” reviews sent from management. From looking at SPI responses to Glassdoor reviews, it’s obvious they have an auto text drafted because they’re used to replying to so many terrible experiences.

Hello and thank you for sharing your experiences while working for our company. Also, thank you for two plus years of hard work. We wish you the best in your new and future jobs. I would like to get more details on a couple items because I can assure you it would have been rare for it to happen. Our Field employees never work from home. They drive to their territory and work from 9 to 5 then they are finished and they go home. Also, our recruiters do not tell candidates they will be hired by a Client at some point. They are actually trained to make sure they tell the candidates we are not a staffing agency and you will not be hired by the Client. If a field employee's territory grows or changes in which he or she would have to drive much more than the average field employee, we usually increase the auto allowance to $500 while the extra driving is being done. I also want to commend you for giving us 2 plus years of your career and hard work after feeling you were hired under false pretenses. Thank you again for providing feedback which will contribute to us learning, improving, and growing as a company.

Pros

You were pretty much autonomous, and the salary was decent.

Cons

They seem to be working out the kinks as you're in the field. Not really sure if they fully know what their doing. My original manager (Ryan) was great, he was promoted to another position and I was transferred to a new manager. Within a few weeks I was fired with no reason, no explanation, my new manager didn't know anything HR didn't call. They truly do not care about their sales people. I always met my numbers and had no complaints from customers. They just got rid of me. Just make sure you have a plan B if you work for this company.
