Pros

Junior and middle management have great ethics, morals and principles which drive them to do the best they can

Cons

That last 12 months it has evolved into an ‘old boys club’ where senior management only employ like minded individuals who they’ve worked with in the past. It’s a closed culture of white middle aged men who support a bullying oppressive culture but have no idea why this is an issue. Employees are too scared to speak out due to the fear of being on someone’s hit list, essentially if you tow the line, don’t question authority and are based in London bringing in money ie as a sales person they you are indispensable. There is no transparency and the standard answer when questioned over areas with inconsistency over salary reviews is ‘it’s my decision and I don’t have to explain it to you’. Employees are leaving in significant numbers which has got to be undermining the success of the company but no one at senior management level seems to care. Avoid to all costs unless you are thick skinned and are driven by status and money.

Pros

Few nice people who work there. Can be used as a stepping stone to further your career. Many YES people

Cons

Spineless and Inept management team who live in a bubble where they think they are actually "The best" Laughable and morally bankrupt HR department. North Korea has better IT systems and CULTURE for sure!! Lacks DIVERSITY big time on all scales for example only women in HR and the one guy they had a few years ago didn't stand a chance, barely did 2 months.

Pros

In terms of product offering Sanlam has great products which are far better than many other companies

Cons

No support for financial advisors. Financial advisers are the bread and butter of a financial company, however Sanlam treats their advisers as though they are another source of income. They cripple new advisors with operating expenses that make it difficult to just make ends meet in an already tough industry. They have no concern about the actual well being of advisers. As advisers we are supposed to assist clients with managing their budgets no and not out then into positions where are financially compromised. However Sanlam shows their advisors so such regard. They force you to take out several policies which are not affordable, they do not contribute to any employee benefits. Normally when companies opt for cost to company that means that it is up to you to sort out your personal cover on ypir own. They don't force you to take out policies that you can't afford, if you don't agree you don't get the job. When you don't succeed due to be crippling operating expenses that they force on you you are left with a policies that you can't afford, and are in a compromised financial position. Which Sanlam does not care about. No transparency or integrity in dealings with staff or coworkers. There are no repercussions for people who choose to act without integrity the work place.
