nepotism

Pros

The people you'll meet here and make lasting friendships with is inevitable, a lot of good people working here. some of the values that Erie Sauder (founder) had still live at this company. the work environment is very clean id say, a bit dusty at times but that's to be expected. I have had a few different positions here, I don't think there's a job here that's too physically demanding for the average person.

Cons

nepotism, nepotism, nepotism. ever since i started here, that what everyone says. and its true. advancement is solely dependent on if you are favored. year after year the company has meetings with the CEO where he explains we haven't made any money this fiscal year. I've seen companies that actually don't make a profit, the last thing they're doing is re-paving the parking lot. after a few years your evaluation raise could be $0.00 to $0.50 which if your lucky enough to get might cover about 3/4 of the raise in the insurance cost overy year..

Not Terrible, Not Great

Pros

The work isn't difficult by any means, and I personally have never had any issue with getting time off when I needed it. All of the team leaders that I've personally had over the years were either good to work with or at the very least tolerable. I can't speak for everyone at the company, but I have enjoyed most of my coworkers, having met several of my best friends working there. In general, if you just need a paycheck to cover you, Sauder's is good.

Cons

Lack of opportunity for advancement. I said Sauder's is good if you just need a paycheck, but if you want to build a career, Sauder's is not the best place. Favoritism ran strong, and some of the supervisors (thankfully not mine) could be unfair to their not so favorites. Among many of the older workers, there was a strong sense that the company was in decline, though I was not certain whether this was accurate. I list this as a negative nonetheless because pessimism is not good for employee morale.

Pros

There are still some good people there, but more and more leaving all the time. Good place to develop life-long friendships.

Cons

Just is not the place it used to be. Employees have no confidence in new leadership. Opportunities for growth are missing because the business is contracting.
