Terrible Management

Pros

Flexibility. Like their mission. Organized.

Cons

Under staffed and the upper management is all white. They do not hire any people of color. The CFO runs that place like a warden while the Executive Director teeters around. It’s not a good place if your looking to advance. Again proceed with caution.

Pros

Progressive, mission-based organization that has stayed true to the founders' ideals and done some impressive change making for the SF Bay area's environment.

Cons

Literally everything else. The CFO who has been there for a ;lifetime is a terrible manager and at times, unhinged and the CEO turns a blind eye to this and most other core issues (of which there are MANY). The organizational culture is NOT representational of the Bay Area and the leadership could care less. White privilege runs the show here. Understaffed and underpaid. Program staff do it for the love until they leave and other staff turnover is off the charts.

Don’t stay long

Pros

The organization has a good external reputation and long history, so at least it will look good on your resume

Cons

Organization is severely understaffed for the amount of work expected and suffers from a terrible turnover rate. Positions are left unfilled for months and sometimes years if not absorbed into existing staffs roles (great if you want two jobs for the pay of one). You can meet or exceed the expectations for your position but you will never get more than a 3% raise, though the next week you’ll hear the fundraising team brag about getting a million dollar donation. They’ve adopted a lot of social justice language in the past couple years and have a DEIA committee, but somehow still can’t manage to hire, promote, or retain people of diverse backgrounds.
