Pros

Great learning experience for advancing your career.

Cons

Large generational gap in approaches to technology and problem solving. Environment was difficult to introduce new ideas to solve problems. Technology and processes are very outdated and very behind. The outdated systems make it harder to complete the projects on time because you are working against the systems. To deliver outcomes that could be completed easier with updated software. Everything takes twice as long or more to complete because of all the people you have to go through to get on board. Didn't have a technical team. Not a lot of movement for support or creating change. A ton of belittling and bullying for power dynamic going on. Not a lot of flexibility for working from home.

Pros

Nice building, updated I.T. equipment, ability to WFH at times. Excellent co-workers overall. Caring culture from immediate supervisors (cared about your work/life balance, your personal needs).

Cons

Very few career opportunities (but small government tends to be flat, no matter where you go). Most co-workers were great, but there were a handful who did very little actual work (which was noticed by all co-workers, but no supervisors). Overall, I feel supervisors could use more supervision themselves. Or training. Or something. Senior mgmt is the variety who sends out company-wide nastygrams if someone on their team sees something they don't like (rather than just popping their head in a cubicle and directly addressing). Not my favorite type of leadership. Lastly - and this sounds small - but there was no nearby break room for the very large group of employees on our floor. Highly disliked the "no lunch break/eat at your desk" culture that we all ended up partaking in (with nowhere to go).
