Pros

The best part of this job was the last time I walked out the door. I loved having Sunday only off.

Cons

Forget everything you know about honesty and integrity when you accept your job offer from Scotts Lawn Service in Elgin. A typical day at work is making about 200+ outbound calls to customers who have previously rejected service or up-selling existing customers. You will be on an automatic dialer talking to people who have already been called and called and called. Management only cares about sales numbers for the day and going golfing. The hardest part of this job is working 70+ hours a week, only getting paid for 40 (besides commission) and never seeing your friends or family. The environment is very deceptive, dog eat dog and you will be thrown under the bus.

Pros

People you work with...that's about it

Cons

Everything . If you like to work long hours and 6 days a week in any kind of weather condition...then have I got a great job for you...You will work from 12-9pm every nite of the week plus Saturdays from 9-4pm...You will go door to door telling people how awful their lawn looks and trying to get them to sign up on the spot without even thinking about it....Oh yeah the service they are signing up for is a joke and is performed mostly by people that look like they just got out of prison...They ruin peoples lawns so bad that most of them end up cancelling. You will get cancel lists to call and call and call and call and call until these poor people scream at you for calling them a hundred times and you actually feel genuinely sorry for them because they distribute this same cancel list to all their salespeople . Oh yea this is only a seasonal job so you will bust your butt for about 20 weeks and then be told you either have to become a tech for a short time with no experience mind you or be laid off . I thought I was working for a reputable company with a great pedigree what I got was a sham of a company with a lot of complaints against them You would show up at peoples doors and they would yell at you to go away that's how bad it gets. The pay is just decent for the amount of hours worked. Comes out to like 11 dollars an hour if you factor in all the time you put into it. They do reimburse some for gas but you have to fight for it. If I were you and not desperate for work I would look elsewhere. The same could be said for signing up for their pitiful lawn service.

Pros

Basically there are no pros to this company.

Cons

During interview I was assured I would receive benefits after 60 days. Worked the 60 days and was told to wait another 30 days due to the companies low sales!!! The work week is a mandatory six days and was never informed of this until I took the job which is fine I am willing to work however, not all work the Saturday required for some reason!! Also, the given sales goals per week keep increasing to the point that they are not obtainable therefore, you risk being written up and let go which is presently occurring! Thus NEVER giving you benefits! This is just a very, very seasonable job at the least and you are never informed of this when hired. They get the most out of you the first few weeks then they eliminate employees one by one for not getting required sales. Next year they start with a fresh crew and do it all over again.
