Pros

Family business, friendly environment, Singapore office situated at a good location with many eateries nearby, 4 train stations are within walking distance. Company is generous on employee welfare such as transport, drinks and meals. CEO is humble and down-to-earth. Lots of team bonding events

Cons

Group think: Because many in the management has been with the company for more than 15 years, they are resistant to change especially the middle management, thinking that maintaining status quo is fine. HR is dinosaur and still processes claims manually. Management roles are male dominated, and male bosses talk down to their subordinates. Company believes in job rotation for employees’ growth hence allowing new departments to be led by senior employees without experience. Company culture, poor leadership: Because the management team has been in the company for many years, the company has accepted a family culture meaning there are no checks and balances, no proper guidelines when it comes to work hours (lots of OT and customer entertainment needed outside of work hours) and deadlines can be delayed further and further. Extremely messy organisation, no career growth as they do not hire industry professionals to lead teams. Lots of abortive work done as job scopes are not clearly defined, thus limiting not only individual growth but also the company’s potential for growth.

MNC but family business

Pros

Salary on time. Friendly colleagues.

Cons

It used to be just an sme, local family business style. Then there came a drastic 'business transformation' (the badly planned type - imagine having transformation but not willing to pay for business assessment, patch work). Alot of departure including department heads. We are now working full OT till Saturday or even Sunday. If you are a new joiner, you will be thrown to sea, swimming on your own - because either your boss has left or he is too busy himself ..

Unhealthy and polarising environment

Pros

Friendly colleagues (only in the younger aged group)

Cons

Management likes to create many group chats to talk about non work related things. Business development plans only get disseminated to a selected few. Work is mostly discussed over drinks instead of in the office. No proper appraisal processes, management also fires people without reasons seems like if they don’t like you, you will be asked to leave.
