Pros

The experience of working for Sedulo has meant my therapist has gained a few more sessions with me.

Cons

I simply don't know where to start. I worked for the R&D Tax relief department and the experience was shocking. This company prioritises billing and nothing else. Not staff care. Not client care. Not ethical business practice. Not compliance. Only billing. The staff turnover is incredibly high. Likely due to the low pay, long hours, no overtime and no time off in lieu. The "benefits package" does not make up for the low pay and long hours. I've witnessed management use bullying tactics and emotional manipulation. Impossible targets are set and bonus agreements are deliberately vague so that the company can wiggle out of paying. The Director of the company has often been heard screaming at people from the meeting rooms and puts the senior management team in impossible positions where they're pressured into exploiting the workforce to make up for poor management of the company. The office culture feels very oppressive and no one feels able to speak up through fear. HR (People and Culture) are complete lap dogs to management and interactions with them are futile if you're looking for support. They've explicitly instructed staff that they're not allowed to talk about salaries (this is completely illegal) and they will take advantage of staff not knowing their rights at any opportunity. I can't stress enough how much I wouldn't recommend going to work for this company.

Pros

There really aren't any (had to make this longer to fit the minimum criteria!).

Cons

I'm writing the cons to the words of "Escape", well the chorus anyway..... If you like Pina Coladas - then you'll be dissapointed by the 'free bar' as it only has cheap beer, and isn't free really as you're underpaid to make up for it. And gettin caught in the rain - then you'll enjoy the benefits of a 'roof top bar' in Manchester. Great perk if you think about it! Honestly why bother! If you're not into yoga - then you won't get much from the 'extensive' wellbeing programme such as yoga on the aforementioned roof top bar. It's a token gesture anyway, make sure you get those month end invoices out for thr work that hasn't been done. Got to hit those made up targets. If you have half a brain - well you could end up as a 'director', the 'Managing Partner' doesn't like too much of a challenge to his authority. Just enable him and turn a blind eye to his petulant rants at senior staff trying their best to meet client work/demands. If you like makin love at midnight - then you'll fit right in. Thats the time you'll be getting home to your partner anyway. In the dunes of the cape - Apparently you can now take some sort of flexible work/holiday time. Good luck with that! Then I'm the love that you've looked for - I'll be honest I'm struggling with this one! Write to me and escape - Get tose letters into whatever recruitment agent you can find asap. Get out. Trust me. Everyone who has has never looked back.

Pros

If you can find the right team to insulate yourself from the rest of the business, there are some great people.

Cons

The other poor reviews are all in alignment and this is similar. I was in a more senior role and stayed longer than I should. You can spend time building the place to be better and attempting to reach that vague “world class” that is touted but never understood. Ultimately the problem here is Paul. He is an egotistical narcissist and the business will not be able to progress with him. He somehow has a mixture of micromanagement when he’s interested (eg marketing, larger billing areas and social media, while also being entirely uninterested in other areas such as compliance related ones that aren’t flashy and can’t be posted on his LinkedIn. While there are a number of great leaders there, they will invariably leave after attempting to put their stamp on it. Those that stay know not to try force Paul to do anything otherwise they will be branded “not really Sedulo”. Free thinking is not encouraged, just pretend you are a uni student having a party while balancing on uncomfortable chairs missing wheels. The business is all flash and no substance. Pay is rubbish and only decided by Paul (CEO). Do yourself a favour and look elsewhere, if you do interview, take note of the salary discussions and comparisons to the market.
