Friendly peers, so-so management.

Pros

Flexible work schedules, telecommuting options, friendly and knowledgable coworkers make for a generally pleasant work environment. Close to public transit.

Cons

Upper management is not particularly open, especially for a small company. Salary and benefits are average, opportunities for growth and advancement limited. Quality of project managers and supervisors is inconsistent.

Pros

Good management. Peers are friendly. Very nice workplace IF you get to work at their Headquarters in Arlington. All the benefits of working in a small company. Health insurance is very good. Benefits are also very good. Managers recognize your talent and reward accordingly. They listen to your needs. Flexible work schedules. Overall, a very good IT company to work for in the DC area.

Cons

1. Being a small company, your options to rise within the ranks can be limited. 2. As with all govt. contracting companies in the DC area, you probably will be sent to a Govt office to work. At that time, your mileage may vary (possibility of a crappy work environment, politics, etc)

Pros

While the contract was supported by the Air Force the job was okay.

Cons

When the company Protested the Contract Award, the Air Force cut the budget and in turn Segue laid off 90% of the work force with only 2 weeks pay. I had been with the company for 4.5 years and still only got 2 weeks pay, when I asked for the standard 1-2 weeks per year worked; I was dismissed. While working at Segue there was always a bottle neck to get code checked in, because only one person was in control of the code. If the code was not written the way he wanted it was rejected. It was a common joke that we added a week for code check-in. Many people complained about the person in question above, but it fell on deaf ears. People complained to HR with no results. If you want to be micro-managed this is a good place to work. The laid off people got 1 day notice, when the company knew that this was coming.
