      Great place if you're young, single and/or just starting in the business. Established LO's, look elsewhere.

      Pros

      Direct access to underwriting, which helps clear stips faster. Some management is excellent. Plenty of parking. Easily accessible. Many company events to improve team building. Hours are not terrible compared to other lenders. SHL is a Direct lender and has a wide array of mortgage products available. Quick closing time, typically under 30 days. Ongoing training. Ability to make a great amount of money if you put in the extra work.

      Cons

      Some management is absolutely horrendous. Office drama, people are always talking about other people and "cliques" form and evolve. Food goes missing from refrigerator. Noise when trying to conduct business is common. If you're in recovery of any sort, steer clear of SHL, as partying is paramount (work hard, play hard mentality). Frequently wrong on commission checks and takes forever to have corrected.

      Insulting pay, extreme micro management, very negative work culture, zero growth opportunities , incompetent management and HR

      Work Hard, Get Results

      Pros

      The company is great to work for especially if you work hard. I've seen some of the reviews below talking about how it's a boys club, drinking, etc. From working at the company for many years I can tell you...the individuals who work hard and perform get those benefits. If you don't want to work hard, then you don't. Plain and simple. Almost every mortgage job I've worked at has been this way. The company does a ton of stuff for all employees even when they aren't performing at the top like block island and other events. You want it all? Work for it.

      Cons

      Nothing. If you can put your head down and work then it's the best company to work for!
