Great Product and Great Co-Workers, But....

Pros
Products were great. Solved technical issues. Engineering support was excellent. Good rapport amongst co-workers. Mentoring by some managers from US and Japan was good. Interesting travel opportunities throughout the US and abroad. Great opportunity to learn a number of technical products. Customers in the consumer electronics space and defense industry were fascinating to work with.
Cons
Feedback was given in a transparent way, in front of the entire office. As the feedback was perceived in a negative way, turnover was high as a result. At the time, company had a bonus structure but no commission, and pay was not up to par with the budget needed to make it with a family in the Bay Area. Company offered tuition reimbursement but rarely honored it. Great company, but given the other opportunities out there, a great resume builder.

Pros
Kind co-workers, nine to five work schedule, not much overtime. (leaving was the best decision)
Cons
Complete lack of leadership from Japanese management. Vague sales goals, like more sales to automotive customers, but no concrete steps or support to reach those goals. Zero vision for the future. No room for advancement. Low pay. Health Ins is very expensive. HR is horrible!
