Pros

Amazing bonuses, full benefits, free breakfast and lunch, great coworkers. Sequoia is good at hiring people whose personalities mesh so it's always fun to catch up with coworkers at lunch and social gatherings. It's also very cool to work alongside some of the most brilliant minds in tech/VC, and be one of the first to know about new and upcoming companies.

Cons

There is little flexibility for underlings for things like family emergencies, new mothers' needs, doctor appointments, etc. and don't even try to ask if you can work from home one day. The managing partners have a firm policy against working remotely.

Selling your soul to the devil

Pros

Salary, benefits, bonus, and maybe great team depending on what team you are in

Cons

Harassment 100% occurs at Sequoia. They are exceptionally good at hiding it and HR doesn't exist. Unless you count the person who has no background in HR doing the job. Management is old fashion and really rude.

Pros

Hybrid work schedule at 2 days in office

Cons

It takes a certain type to work here. Sequoia must be your top priority with family as a lower priority. You will always struggle as a parent because this environment won't allow you to be good one. Sequoia expects you to consistently work 12+ hour days during the work week and working weekends is expected. A 60 hour work week isn't uncommon for the EA team. The environment is high pressure and high volume with the expectation that everything is on fire. The expectation is to do everything perfectly all the time. You're reminded often that performance is the only priority and you should feel lucky to be here. The EA turn over is very high. Half the team is fairly new at 1 year or less due to departures. There has been constant change at the EA leadership level prior to joining and has changed multiple times this year. I have never worked somewhere where culture and experiences is mentioned so much. But, nothing is improved. Having social events doesn't improve the culture. You would think they would know this by now.
