Pros

always courses on Proceeds of crime, intelligence etc. Very quiet working environment. Depends on what floor you're on. Good security. Very interesting work in general. If yu want to get into financial investigation would be a very good route to start.

Cons

If you are part of the BME groups you will not do well in this place. Progression chances are slim and you are micromanaged. Don't bother about filing a formal complaint with HR as they don't care about you either. They try everything in their power for you not to file grievances. If you don't look like them they'll try anything to get you out. Harsh reality but true.

Great job. The rest, not so...

Pros

Interesting work; very specialised and unique experience not found in any other institution in the country (and probably the world). A real sense of achievement fighting the 'good fight'. Working for victims and ensuring the corrupt corporate criminals are brought to justice is a true motivator.

Cons

Public sector payscales are low compared to the private sector

Pros

Good work life balance Can take holiday when you need to Decent pension Access to good quality work

Cons

There was a culture of bullying which new management has started to tackle At this grade you will be handling disclosure for the rest of your life unless you become a prosecutor, in which case you will be paid less than your worth. For some reason investigators tend to dislike the lawyers, even the ones they've never worked with. Favouritism is rife although not as bad it was , if your face "fits" you may find yourself with a promotion in short order. If you want to move within the organisation to gain greater experience it will be blocked as your development is the least of their interest despite them stating otherwise.
