Pros

First off, offering free Medical is AWESOME. Most of the people are awesome. The company has cool tech that will hopefully take over the PC market one day. There is some room to grow but not much and you have to be ready to hit the ground running. Most of the people are cool and are nice to work with. A decently stocked fridge as well. CEO and CFO are locked in and ready to grow.

Cons

Being a California only service at the moment has created more hurdles than expected from a support and user facing direction. There some times is little to nothing to do. There are side projects to work on but the problem is, you are expected to know it all even though you have admittedly no experience in the role. You won't be trained and will be expected to know exactly what they want from you. This can set you up to fail. If not, well, you could be out the door. You are always on the knifes edge on whether or not you are going to be employed. The CFO and CEO are pretty hands off. It comes down to a 3rd person who seems to have heavy influence on what happens, who stays, and who goes. It probably also isn't good that the person will bad mouth those he doesn't like in an open setting where everyone can hear it. Not exactly a morale booster.

Thanks a lot for your feedback. Blade is a fast growing company facing many great challenges. We are aware that as a start up we have a learning curve and everything we do is not perfect but we have our employees’ best interests in mind. The CEO and CFO are not doing micromanagement, this is not in our company culture. We expect our team members to be autonomous and responsible. We hope this experience will benefit you anyway. Thank you for having been part of the Blade adventure.

Pros

- Free snacks - Free drinks - Free depression - Insurance is decent - Meal voucher - Office dogs are cute

Cons

- Unless you are a higher up they will underpay you - Depending on where you are located you will not be paid on time - They lure people in with lies and promises that they will never keep - Everything is France-First, if you work with any other market - good luck getting anything addressed or fixed. Unless France has an issue, it is not an issue. - Blatant favoritism - The few good people that they have not fired yet are leaving due to poor management and extreme micromanaging - Your coworkers will either be extremely hard workers or not do anything at all. No in-between - Internal communication basically doesn't exist - Management will blame you for their bad decisions - Promising promotions just to tell you "no" the next year - If you have the misfortune of having to go to the office: the AC has been broken for years and you can not open the windows in most rooms - If you don't speak French you will get excluded in basically everything, even the company Slack and company meetings - Check the Shadow Subreddit r/ShadowPC - trust me

Potentially the worst place I've ever worked.

Pros

There are/were some people who genuinely wanted to see the company grow and support fellow employees.

Cons

Lack of communication. Lack of knowledgeable management. Too much nepotism and not enough skill or performance-related advancement. Many younger / less experienced employees are allowed free reign to do almost nothing at all. If you enjoy watching your colleagues watch Youtube or play games instead of working then this is great. Otherwise... Middle managers don't know or trust their staff and don't want to. They have no desire to help employees to develop a work-life balance. A tendency to turn a blind eye to breaking or bending the law.

Hello, Thank you for taking the time to leave your review; we are surprised and disappointed to read that your Shadow experience was so challenging. Whilst the work-life balance in an ambitious startup can be challenging, the majority of our employees have fed back really positively on this, so it is disappointing for us to learn that you weren’t encouraged to find a rhythm that worked for you. We aim to give our employees as much freedom as possible to do their work in the way they want to, and we feel comfortable to do this as we operate a results-driven environment. This includes flexibility over working schedules and encouraging people to take some recharging time during the day if they need it, whilst remaining productive. Given that your feedback is so mismatched with the results of our engagement survey, and with the word of mouth commentary we hear at Shadow on a daily basis, we would appreciate having a conversation with you to understand your feedback in more detail. If you are open to this, please reach out to our People team to discuss your experience with us. Many thanks, Shadow People Team
