      Pros

      Great professional development. Some adminstrators are wonderful examples of educators.

      Cons

      Many of the teachers are trying to create a more inclusive school. The administration hesitates to let the school progress for fear of alienating the alumni (old rich white men). Some adminstrators are very belittling to staff and teachers.

      Strong professional development opportunities for faculty.

      Cons

      Most teachers, students & parents are great, but admin has little trust in its faculty. They undermine them with constantly changing messages on expectations. It’s all about optics over outcomes. Whatever sounds good in the brochure. Compensation is also subpar.

      Shadyside Academy has excellent summer programs that completely engage students in various activities.

      Cons

      For their summer programs camp teachers were not paid very much.
