Huge disconnects, lost culture

Pros

Remote work is flexible and there are talented people working at the company.

Cons

The early 2016 reviews on this site are true, this used to be a great company to work for. Since then there's been a big change in upper management and the company grew too quickly without a plan. The co-founders are absent from the day to day and the work is really suffering under a leadership team that has no accountability. There is no employee review structure and many people have not had raises or promotions in a long time, plus they are changing benefits and policies to not be very employee-friendly.

Right industry, wrong approach to teamwork

Pros

I have learned so much at this company and it is an incredible industry to experience right now. Our clients aim big and we can certainly support their growth, ROI, and infusing their long-term goals. I do not mind working at home, although it is non-stop at times.

Cons

As a dedicated employee who knows I have a lot to learn, I would appreciate greater transparency and communication around ANYTHING pertaining to my work. Being thrown under the bus with clients is not only unprofessional, but demonstrates an inner lack of cohesion. I also do not like how they treat other colleagues at 'rival' agencies. There is enough work for everyone and sabotage does not create trust in any professional environment. This is not a game of dodgeball.

Cultural Disconnect

Pros

Flexible work environment with a few smart leaders

Cons

The leadership team tries to pitch an environment of "love" but the passive-aggressive leaders will throw anyone under the bus at any time through undermining their work. They mostly do it behind closed doors and behind your back with little opportunity for rebuttal. The work from home environment allows small people to hide behind their computer screens; these are the leaders of the company.

Shaw/Scott Response

Our top priority is always and will always be the happiness of our team. When we say we want to truly be the company where our people love what they do and love where they work, we mean it. We know firsthand what it feels like to not be heard and that's why we decided to create our own company that would be committed to doing better. We're so proud of the incredibly kind, intelligent and capable team we've assembled even though we're not always perfect or without challenges. As a virtual company committed to diversity and equity with teams across North America and Europe, our work environment and culture may not be for everyone. At no time is anyone ever "hiding behind a computer" as we have multiple channels and tools to make sure everyone's voice is heard. We strive to foster an open and transparent organization, though to be successful, this needs to be a two-way street. It's difficult to speak more specifically to the concerns and feedback noted here since this review is anonymous. However, we would be grateful to learn more about your experiences with us and specifically how we might improve. We're sorry your time with us was not positive, but hope you're willing to help us be better--our door is always open.
