A rough road ahead

Pros

There are some great individuals and teams at the organization. The software is widely popular and is seeing growing demand. You'll learn a lot about different aspects of the business regardless of your department.

Cons

The culture at its core has grown toxic. Instead of addressing concerns they simply wait for the employee to leave and/or terminate them. They keep on employees that do not benefits their teams or the company as a whole. Leadership can be tone deaf. For the longest time the company was insistent on pushing "tribes" in marketing and sales material, even in the current political climate and with internal backlash. We originally got June 19th off because "other companies were doing it". Much of the original team has left over the last year. It seems that many of new hires are simply people that know someone of the board or are associated with employees - this is limiting the transparency of the company.

Dear Anonymous Employee, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. Being a current employee at SheerID, I encourage you to meet with me to discuss your concerns. Please know that you can speak with me anytime, so we can help make your experience here as productive and successful as possible. I agree that they are many great individuals and teams at SheerID - the people are what makes SheerID a great place to work, so it was disappointing that you felt the culture was not up to your expectations. We work diligently to build a strong culture - and even more so during the pandemic, as everyone has had a challenging past year and a half. We are a fast-growing business, so change is constant. We are proud to be agile when it comes to decision-making, communication, and hiring, and we continue to meet our goals. We will make mistakes along the way, and my goal is to correct those quickly and be transparent in the process. Please seek me out, as I would love to discuss these and any other concerns you may have. Thank you again for your feedback. Jake

Good and the bad

Pros

SheerID has a fantastic product that delivers real value for its customers. Some truly great people and some of the hardest workers I’ve had the pleasure of being around. Some great mid level leaders that were always willing to coach/lend a helping hand. The company enabled me to grow quite a bit in my career and I’ll be forever grateful for that.

Cons

Hiring is the Achilles heel of SheerID. Bad culture fits, lacking skill sets, and hiring people at critical growth points who’ve never done this before has been tough. The executive team does not live by the SheerID values and most hires at this point are because they know them or the board recommended them. Very few senior hires have been made on merit in my experience.

Anonymous Employee, Thank you for sharing your thoughts about your time at SheerID. It's encouraging to hear that you felt you were able to grow your career during your time here. We care about personal and professional development for all team members, and I appreciate you expressing that sentiment. It’s even more important to hear where you think we could improve, and so it was disappointing to read about some of your experiences with the hiring decisions that were made. For a growing business like ours, we have to be incredibly nimble when it comes to scaling our teams, so our talent recruiting teams are always cultivating relationships with a number of people. Regarding your comments on listening to our employees, we are committed to creating a comfortable, transparent, and collaborative environment for all our employees. We are continuously looking for ways to enhance how we communicate and receive feedback from our team members. In fact, we launched an internal program earlier this year to achieve just that. Our dedication to our employees, in my opinion, is one area that sets us apart, and I am sorry that was not your experience while working here. All of your feedback has certainly been taken to heart, and we always strive to provide an environment where our employees can work where they work best. I encourage any reviewer to reach out and speak to someone personally. Thank you for taking the time to leave this review. I want to wish you the best of luck in your career and thank you for being a part of the SheerID journey. Jake Weatherly

Pros

Some intelligent and kind people across all departments. Products are really taking off. Great benefits. Rapid growth and there are always new and exciting projects to work on.

Cons

A couple of E-staff create and enable a toxic work environment. People who underperform get kept on and promoted while people who work hard and (over) perform do not get recognized. Company tries too hard to promote a culture they are not.
