Pros

Family environment Opportunity to promote from within Compensation for covering extra duties for classroom teachers Good benefits Parent-centered rather than student or teacher centered Minimal support and structures/consequences in place for students’ terrible behavior

Cons

Very disorganized from the top down Handed PD’s and new program with a shrug and a get started, figure it out mentality Not enough support staff or substitutes so teachers are expected to split classes, but are paid well for it Compensation for extra duties only applies to classroom teachers Benefits are costly, district contributions aren’t enough Not enough pay for work level expected

Pros

Helping children in need. Meeting new people. Benefits are decent.

Cons

Priority is placed on parents and not the well being of children or workers. Staff likes to gossip too much. Favoritism is extremely apparent, it's all in who you know and not based on actual effort or work for recognition. Administration is very unprofessional in how they speak to staff. Employee reviews are not done appropriately. Staff do not receive raises often. An employee who's been there 12 years should not be making the same amount as a new hire. On the pay scale it shows tiers and raises but they don't implement them. You also acquire vacation days and sick leave but good luck using them. You are made to feel terrible if you call in sick and vacation days are rarely approved. Aides are used in positions they have no business being a part of. Aides are used to teach when they aren't certified to teach. It's a thankless job.

Pros

My direct boss was great to work for and the staff in Transportation was great to work with.

Cons

Communication in SISD is bad ! The Superintendent and Co-Superintendent are the worst management I have ever worked for and have no idea what is going on in the school district. The students are out of control and they don't do anything to correct the issues.
