Pros

You think you're doing an excellent job...but you find yourself in an episode of the Twilight Zone

Cons

HUGE lack of basic business management skills/structure, managers, and CEO. It's controlled by bipolar bullies. A very skeletal HR department (if you wan to call it that). They will smile and act unusually nice before they backstab you. Policies are made up as they go. Think 3x if you're considering to relocate just for this company. They'll kick you out just because you're making too much logical sense and they want the credit. Very little business experience here. The Workplace Bullying Institute defines bullying as “repeated, health-harming mistreatment of one or more persons (the targets) by one or more perpetrators that takes one or more of the following forms: verbal abuse, offensive conduct/behaviors (including nonverbal) which are threatening, humiliating, or intimidating; or work interference – sabotage – which prevents work from getting done.” Signs of bullying: -Creating a feeling of uselessness -Deceit -Intimidation -Mood Swings -Pitting employees against each other, aka Campaigning -Taking credit -Constant change and inconsistency -Undermining work -Projection of blame -Minimization of legitimate concerns -Diversion -Ignoring -Shame and guilt -Isolation and/or exclusion -Unjustified rationalization to prove Campaigning tactics If you're an established adult who doesn't have time for childish games don't consider applying here! Nothing will make sense, and when it finally comes to light, they will find stupid reasons to replace you. There's no business plan here.

Pros

Well it was a good company...

Cons

They laid off everyone in customer service and out sourced our jobs. I had to train my replacements over zoom My pay rate and responsibilities didn't match my job title. They made a lot of promises but didn't follow through. Don’t work for this company. They will drop you without question. They don’t care about their employees. They care about the bottom line.

Pros

I have worked at AfterShokz for two-years now and consider myself very lucky to have found a company that aligns well with my core values. AfterShokz cares about the well-being of their team, their customers, and community. During my time with this company, I received a promotion within my first few months and have had many opportunities to further develop my professional skills. Each employee is given the space to grow, learn, and make mistakes while being supported by their team and supervisor. In my experience, management (including the C-suite) genuinely cares about both the professional and personal well-being of each person on our team. A healthy work-life balance is not only encouraged, it's required. Each person on the team is required to take at least one 5-day paid vacation throughout the year. Management also has an open-door policy, staff at all levels are encouraged to bring their ideas, suggestions, and complaints to the table so they can be addressed. AfterShokz has also been incredibly supportive throughout the Covid pandemic. Our Employee Experience team worked very hard to make sure each team member's concerns were heard and that each person at the company feels safe and supported while working from home.

Cons

AfterShokz is still a fairly small company with a start-up culture. With that in mind, there may be some questions you may have that don't have answers in our employee handbook yet. However, our HR person is wonderful and is open to feedback and suggestions when you have any questions about policies. Another aspect of most start-ups is that you may find yourself wearing different hats on different days. While I enjoy that variety, if you're the kind of person who likes to do the same tasks every day, this culture may not be right for you.
