Pros

- The people are awesome and usually kind - The office in Sydney is a good space to work in - There are knowledgable creatives. If you put in the time to learn off of people you will - Daily ping pong break can be a good distraction

Cons

- The editing work is terrible. This is not a creative job. You edit footage shot by people who have never used a camera before. Even most piece to cameras are garbage somehow - You will be most likely be severely underpaid compared to other full-time editing jobs. 50k annually as a full-time editor is inexcusable. - Management focus on the money and generally don't understand why the editors are always annoyed. They try to make them happy with pizza days and parties instead of pay rises and praise - At any moment someone pop up with a camera and try to get you in on filming a lame marketing video. Everything fun you do there is always being filmed so they can look like a fun company on their socials - The location of the office makes no sense. Every shop sounding it is a mechanics and it's a struggle to get to with or without a car due to parking and how far it is from the train station - The bosses aren't strangers to an unfair dismissal and unethical ways of informing their employee's they're in trouble

Pros

Similar to the tone of these review responses working at Shoosta was smarmy and awful. The people the product the culture were all horrible. Avoid at all costs.

Cons

There was not really much to consider in this area.

Thanks for sharing your views. Whilst there isn’t a lot of detail in your review, it certainly does sound familiar. We’ll continue to work with our team on making their work more fulfilling and more enjoyable. Hopefully you’ll have a good experience working in the future.

Pros

- Interesting company model and great for clients - individuals are great

Cons

- no work life balance unless you are at the top - no recognition for work for working above and beyond your job - no one to openly talk to when issue arise - no training or support - too many people will tell you what to do but no one will bother to take at their own trash - expect the platter of food for none of the work - treat employees like they are beneath them and judge you - don’t earn or give respect

Thanks for taking the time to share your insights. As a flat organisation we definitely don’t have any traditional working hours and most definitely support a healthy work-life balance, sometimes too much, so we’d love to know how this has been interpreted in this instance. Perhaps a clearer communication to the team is due, which is something we’ll look into for the next All-hands. Our team is extremely transparent and supportive where possible, so it’s a shame you felt differently in this respect and perhaps we should have listened (and acted) more on your behalf. We all enjoy some banter and share opinions on how things should work or what we need to work on – and that won’t go away, it’s what we do. We’ve since implemented an improved chores bot in Slack that assigns tasks for each person to complete a day, and taking out the trash is one of them, so we expect to see a huge improvement there. To our knowledge, we treat everyone equally–whether it’s for good or improvements in performance. Likewise for recognition when it’s due. Sorry that you felt differently about working at Shootsta, and we wish you all the best for the future.
