Pros

Very innovative product to disrupt healthcare in our country, the founders are committed to the mission and generate a lot of hope and enthusiasm around this mission. The company is growing fast and raised lot of money and placing bold bets. I like company all hands every week and gives me an opportunity to hear updates and progress from the CEO The company is remote friendly for now, although they want employees living in LA to come into the office sometime in the future when the pandemic is over. they still have to find a bigger office space. The pay is ok with stock grants and the company offers me good health coverage

Cons

They are asking everyone in the team to write a review on Glassdoor so here it is... This is not a place for someone who is not cut for startup and you should deliver and live up to expectations operating under ambiguity and lack of clear direction Some of the co-workers are very helpful to me, but most are in their own zone working in silos guarding their turf, In my option the company operates under a bloated chain of command with designations and titles that do not match technical competency. A race against hiring and attrition basically a revolving door, the company is hiring fast and at the same time talented and employee are walking out of the door, Every often and we come to know a coworker is no longer with the company after they are long gone and when we don't see them in meetings. There is no contribution for 401k but good health insurance for employees, and basic PTO that starts after 90 days of working here

Pros

Decent idea to change healthcare, but with a TON of kinks to sort through. Many smart people who are great to work with (just not at the tip top)

Cons

The company is less a company than it is just an idea that hasn’t been remotely executed on. Senior leadership is completely awful: one of the founders has no respect for ideas/concerns you raise that seem to be any sort of challenge to her fairy tail dreams. What’s the point of having an experienced team if you don’t listen to them and their years of experience? The other founder….had to listen to him every week brag about how investors want to throw money at him and the company…really every week…until one week he said capital markets were closed and let go of half the company. Capital markets weren’t closed…investors just realized it was a business that won’t succeed and had made such minuscule progress in getting anything meaningful done. The product is shoddy. All employees were on the plan in 2022 to help vet and flush out issues. Really great idea to do this. However we could see first hand what a mess it actually was and over the year there really was no meaningful fixes put in place that I could see. Some examples: when I couldn’t find a doctor, I was told to go to doctors that did not exist or minute clinics that could not perform the exam that I was inquiring about (this was simply a physical exam). Further, it is complicated beyond belief to understand what your benefits are and what the cost is that you will be charged. This complete lack of transparency makes me avoid / afraid of getting care if I need it, which is not what consumers want not is it the intention of Sidecar….I don’t think.

Pros

1. Gratification of working for a company that is striving hard to offer a plausible alternative to an affordable health care 2. Our weekly leadership all-hands are always upbeat and rejuvenates us and keeps us motivated. 3. We are offered Sidecar Health insurance benefits, and in-turn are getting a nice contribution towards our HSA. I feel like this is a good perk, great advocacy of eating our own dog food.

Cons

1. The company is full of bright people and there needs to be some diversity. 2. In the recent months the company started growing like crazy, and the mid-level managers are being overwhelmed with the mass influx of employees. 3. There is a strong hierarchy of managers, all of them are "Yes Men/Women" and they, not only like to tell the leadership and respective managers what they like to hear, but are also into people management and status report preparation, which leaves the actual person doing the job spend long hours and reporting up. For example, I am one person doing the actual job and I have few managers asking me for status. 4. Lack of transparency, which is one of the core values of the company.
