From "friendly family" to "shady business practices"

My direct reports in the technology department were incredible people who were doing the best they could with the crap sandwich they were handed by the rest of the business. I would not have stayed as long as I had through 2021 if it weren't for their support, friendship, and guidance.
Cons
The HR department and executive leadership is lackadaisical to the point of being non-existent. They made little to no communications and gave little to no assistance. No exit interview was conducted for my departure, and I was not informed of the benefits cut-off date for over two months after I left, only to find that I had lost my benefits far earlier than expected, incurring enormous costs to the care of my special needs child - whom they knew about. They publicly talk up their family company culture and values, but do not espouse them in the slightest. In other departments, managers regularly verbally abuse employees and threaten their jobs if they complain. There is no organizational policy and processes change daily. The workload is massive across the entire business, with random initiatives that have dubious business value being thrown at the wall to see whatever sticks. Employees are overworked and given unreasonable deadline after unreasonable deadline. Many employees are burnt out and working only because they have no other prospects. The company's spirit of inclusivity is dubious at best, considering that they have been hiring nothing but contractors at the lowest possible rates. They started multiple ERGs and immediately abandoned initiatives involving those groups when the workload became too massive to spend time on culture.
