A lot has changed

Pros

This used to be a wonderful place to work and there used to be some really amazing and smart people that worked here, but they're all leaving because of all the changes that have happened.

Cons

As I mentioned, a lot has changed. The management is extremely strict about the 4 day in-office policy, even if you had a day off or if there was a holiday. The head of HR walks around the office taking visual attendance of people, and you are reprimanded if you are not seen. They peeled back an unlimited vacation policy to a numbered policy, and any days you want to take off more than that need to be approved by the COO and Head of HR. There is definite sexism that goes on, women are scapegoated while men are celebrated. There is a huge lack of a clear vision for the company, no one knows what is going on. The culture has become very toxic, everyone is unhappy and management isn't doing anything to help because they don't care. People are dropping like flies, whether from lay-offs or from them leaving on their own without another job because they are so unhappy.

So sad

Pros

Smart people and a solid alumni network full of survivors.

Cons

A place that does not care for the well being of their employees. It’s a sick sweatshop culture that uses abusive tactics to create fear and control. HR takes attendance to enforce a strict 4 day in the office policy. Badges get monitored and everyone needs to swipe even if they enter with another person. They won’t allow adequate time off for surgeries or other medical needs that require time out of the office. There’s a pretense that work cannot be done at home. Vacations get denied based on monitoring computer activity and falsely claiming too much social or online activity that is not “work related”, but will approve favorites even with the same behavior. People got pay significant reductions after promotions unrelated to performance. Women get treated differently, extra monitoring of their time in the office and demands to be the ones who cater events after work hours. I was a favorite and felt all the preferential treatment which was unfair and it felt it was riding a line that is illegal. They made people go into the office during the flood in NYC and refused to pay the $100 taxis. I didn’t have to go in. Please run from the job if you can.

Pros

Was a great team Was a very level hierarchical structure

Cons

A lot changed: Simulmedia became toxic Management (C-suite) began to micromanage employees They gave employees hard times for no reason They were very reactive and didn’t outline a clear strategic vision There were multiple rounds of layoffs They want people in the office five days a week There’s no unlimited vacation policy anymore The business is hurting and who knows how long it’ll be around for I say all this to forewarn anyone considering working at Simulmedia that it’s not a place you go to feel like a valued employee.
