Pros

Award-winning projects will make great additions to your professional portfolio; rapid-fire pace of projects and deadlines will prepare you for anything.

Cons

Management has unrealistic expectations about how many hours employees "should" work each week. Most employees work 60+ hours per week, without overtime or comp time. The company is notorious in the Portland architecture community for burning employees out quickly (rapid turnover). Also, salaries are generally below the compensation standards for the region.

Everything! The people are all super nice, friendly and so so smart. The management treats everyone with respect. Really relaxed, family style atmosphere but doesn't stop your ability to work like some places. Great benefits and snacks/drinks provided. Management really takes the time to talk to everyone and listen to opinions. You are encouraged to explore your creative endeavors outside of work and Skylab provides continuous education for architects.
