Pros

Young growing company that has some potential if there is the right leader.

Cons

CEO is in over his head. Lacks integrity. Does not know healthcare. Board of Directors and CEO not committed to following state and federal regulatory requirements for the legal qualifications of physicians and providers. They get rid of employees who speak up and challenge them and who get in their way of how they want to do credentialing and clinical requirements. They put patients and the organization at risk from poor hiring processes. They have completely unrealistic expectations and do not listen to their employees. Company is struggling to make budgeted financial projections and will never be able to grow, scale, and meet their demands as they are presently set up. They do not have the strength of leadership, nor the proper internal controls to handle the work they have now.

Our top priority is, and will always be, delivering safe and accessible care. As a company, we meet or exceed AAPD and SPA guidelines. There are millions of patients across the country who have been impacted by a lack of access to care. SmileMD exists to solve that problem. We believe our company can expand access to care by providing a model for care delivery that replicates the safety of an OR in an office environment. Occasionally, teammates who come from large, complex health systems conflate bureaucratic systems and lengthy policies and procedures with patient safety. We believe that simplicity and ease of use are essential to solving many of the issues impeding access to care today. In order to change healthcare, healthcare needs to change. If you believe we should maintain the status quo, our company might not be the best fit for you. However, If you think the industry can be better and you want to be part of driving that change... we might be the company for you.

Pros

They help children in need

Cons

Micro-managers from the top down. The home office in Columbus is it's own little bubble. Most of the support people that work for the company are extremely negative. The CEO seems to have gotten the job because he grew up with the founders, he does not appear as though he knows how to lead a 25 person organization. They will lie to you to get you to work where, then basically tell you to deal with it once employed.

We appreciate the feedback and strive to do our best for our patients, customers, and employees. We are always working to improve, but unfortunately, not every employee is a good fit with our culture and mission to deliver equal access to healthcare. We wish you the best of luck in the future.

Pros

SmileMD does a great job of mentoring and helping people grow into their best selves. The leadership is amazing and truly does want everyone to be the best they can be.

Cons

Startups are sometimes more stressful than more established companies and the days can be hectic. Even in those high stress times, the team works well and the leadership helps to make sure things get done.
