      Beware of the 'revolving door' at Smiths Medical

      Pros

      Great products, some nice people, great customers

      Cons

      Where to start...Couldn't organise a drinking session in a brewery comes to mind. Struggles to find it's direction; focused only on one of the three main business units; product launches are delayed by years, not months; anyone who dares speak out of turn ends up having a 'conversation' and suddenly disappears; poor behaviours and unethical behaviours are tolerated AND promoted; male heavy leadership team; annual employee survey is NOT ANONYMOUS - beware! New people are expected to know their job immediately despite the lack of training or direction. If you are good at your job, prepare to be working 100 hour weeks...

      Pros

      The products are top of their class. The CEO is, I believe, trying to make the culture better, more open, transparent and engaging.

      Cons

      Ongoing supply issues. A long way to go with the employee culture. All about the number and hitting it, rather than focusing on how best to reach it. Lack of creative employee motivators.

      High turnover and blame the customer culture

      Nice people all trying hard to do a good job.

      Cons

      Management hopeless - they have no idea and when they do eventually leave all their meetings to listen to a customer it’s the customers fault for not forecasting growth or not implementing a product. Budgets are flat because there is no stock no new products and constantly in backorder for everything.
