Pros

Several people I worked with were great, made a lot of friends that I still have after leaving.

Cons

Where to begin - they base their whole hiring process on finding young and impressionable hires that don't have experience working in a full-time position. This allows SSEO to take advantage of their employees and over work them. You'll see a lot of the fake 5-star reviews state that it's just a fast paced job. Having nearly 30 clients that you have to work on each week and talk to each week is not "fast paced" it's overwhelming. They shame people who speak out or say their mental health is in turmoil or that they are being overworked and would then mark you as a risk instead of actually having empathy and helping you out. Your job security is solely based on the money you bring in vs. if clients leave which 95% of the time is completely unavoidable. When a client leaves, your attrition goes up and your numbers are then posted on a large poster that everyone can see with your names and numbers ranked from best to worst numbers. This company is based on shame and fear. They tell you are your "family" and then make you sign a contract that means if you ever leave you cannot work in the same field or else they will sue you. They only care about the company and how much money you bring in and they are not shy about that fact. The "SEO" work you do is not quality work, and the clients pay insanely high prices that do not equate to the time and work you do because you're focusing on dozens of other clients. I left before the pandemic started so this is before they let half their staff go so those numbers are likely not as high, but you learn very basic skills. Just don't do it, don't work here. If you do, it's okay to leave. Your mental health is more important than this company.

Pros

Most of the people there are really great to work with and will go out of their way to help you. Initial training is great, you learn a lot and it's definitely a sink or swim culture which is also helpful in learning things quickly. The company is very good about promoting from within.

Cons

1. The owners do not follow their own team values. There is little to no trust in employees which is evidenced by very micromanaged procedures and policies meant to keep employees in line and can create a Big Brother-like feel to the office. 2. Most employees are very over-worked. This leads to very high employee attrition and can also lead to very high customer attrition. It certainly leads to worse results and care being given to clients. 3. Owners are the definition of insanity - they keep doing the same things over and over and seem surprised that things don't change/improve. Employees still feel underpaid and underrecognized and Account Managers still get annoyed when they are assigned a terrible client that should have never been sold. 4. Hardly anyone in Executive Management has any experience outside of this company so they don't have a great understanding of how to run a business properly. 5. Absolutely everyone is expendable to the owners.

Pros

There used to be a handful of great mentors at SocialSEO who had experience working at other companies, but they've all left within the past year. At the dev level (the account managers doing the work) there are some wonderful people left, but your friendship will likely be based upon and grown from the trauma you endure working for SocialSEO. They work hard to get rid of any negative reviews and the positive reviews on Glassdoor are left by new hires within their first 90 - 120 days who are asked to leave them and are too scared not to do it for fear of retaliation. There are also fake positive reviews here too.

Cons

SocialSEO is a sinking ship. Over the past year, this company has truly fallen apart and has become one of the most toxic places to work. The executive management team (EMT) only cares about their egos and their bottom line. Profits over people, 1,000 times over, but at this point, the turnover is so incredibly high that it IS impacting the bottom line yet EMT refuses to wake up. In under a year, 80% of the people on my direct team left the company. Logically (and financially) it no longer makes sense for EMT to continue doubling down on their practices, but here we are. If you're lucky to receive any training at all before you're bombarded with new clients, it will be outdated. Everything you do will be monitored (Teams chats, email response time, meetings). You will be gaslit constantly and everything will be your fault. You will have more work than you can possibly handle, but told it's your "time management" that's the issue. Most of your clients will be needy and hardly able to afford SocialSEO's services, but when they quit, it will be your fault. You won't have time to do any quality work for the few clients that treat you respectfully. You will be required to offshore work to a team in the Philippines and lose out on bonuses/promotions if you don't comply - (SocialSEO is also not transparent about these offshoring practices with their clients and they treat their Phillippines employees terribly). You will be extremely overworked and taken advantage of and then reprimanded for daring to show emotion at work or trying to stand up for yourself. Your mental health will suffer at the hands of middle-management and executive team bullies. In exchange for all this, you will get an uncompetitive salary that you could've found working at a local gas station. It's important to note that middle-management and EMT are completely made up of individuals who have NO outside experience beyond SocialSEO. Not only is this bad for your career in a networking sense, but it also means that there is a high degree of nepotism that will impact every aspect of your day-to-day role. Finally, it's also worth mentioning that this company is not a safe space for BIPOC or anyone who does not identify as a Christian Conservative. I could go on and on, but here's the main takeaway: Take ANY other job. I beg of you.
