      Pros

      • Socionext’s products are cutting edge and there is a lot of potential growth in the semiconductor industry. • The company has a work environment where employees are eager to work together in a positive and productive manner. • Management has an “Open Door” policy and takes employee feedback to heart. • Socionext is truly a global company, with employees all over the world. • Benefits are very good.

      Cons

      As a young startup, there are some growing pains as we reach toward our full potential. There can be moments of frustration when partnering with offices internationally.

      Great Place, Unique Technology, Strong Growth Potentials

      Pros

      * Employees are very pleasant with one another (very little bad politics) * Strong sense of ONE TEAM, good support from USA and Japan Management * Pleasant holiday social events, great XMAS party - people know each other * Highly unique technologies get Socio through the door of major Tier-1 accounts (that usually buy from only the largest sized suppliers on their AVL) * Strong heritage from Fujitsu LSI and Panasonic LSI technologies for AV Tech * Good work and family balance - flexible, understanding, while responsible * Correct level of accountability to produce and achieve target results

      Cons

      * Some divisions could use additional product R&D investments to assure long term competitiveness * As in any Japan HQ firm, answers and action closures can take longer than the usual US firm or startup. But the result is less mistakes and smart decisions. * Some of the technologies that could apply in USA are successfully Japan centric, causing you to have to dig and uncover them within greater company * Changing name from famous well known "Fujitsu" & "Panasonic" over to Socionext caused some disconnect of "brand recognition" in US Market

      Pros

      • Multicultural environment • Friendly colleagues • Good remuneration package

      Cons

      • Disconnected Japanese management • Bad job security. It used to be good as shown in the 2009/10 downturn where employees were only asked to sacrifice their bonus payments to save the company. The redundancies in 2019 came suddenly. 1/3 of staff were laid off but no managers. No attempt was made to ease the impact, e.g. by voluntary redundancies.
