Pros

The shows themselves are fun to be around. The staff on the ground are by and large great people.

Cons

The model is tired and broken. There were no real growth opportunities, and the lack of direction made it difficult to succeed. The work environment was disorganized, with limited support and unclear expectations.

Pros

- A lot of young, dedicated music-lovers working to create something special in their communities - Opportunities to innovate, create and make an impact in every area of the company - Free shows, live events, good perks for wellness and continued education

Cons

- COVID took the rug out from under them, and the reorg they went through in 2020 left them worse for the wear - Clear focus on profitability, meeting investor expectations, etc -- rather than a true focus on their employees and performers - The company culture and the heightened expectations thrust upon those who weren't laid off or fired seems completely unscalable and 100% will lead to massive burnout for the high performers still there

Amazing end product, but a mess internally

Pros

Most everyone there is passionate and really love what Sofar produced night after night. Open WFH policy pre-corona, unlimited vacation. Network of people worldwide for when you travel

Cons

Leadership is almost exclusively old white males making 2-4x what directors in cities are making. Very silo'd approach, hard to get things cross-functionally witnessed some insanely sexist behavior, women getting paid less, and some things worse... current product can't produce real revenue, and is one of many "streaming" only options
