Pros

There really isnt any. When you first start you think you’ll get to help survivors, instead you’re enabling.

Cons

Lack of communication. You’re literally on your own. The area itself is risky. No one listens to concerns. If you speak up you get a target on your back. HUGE turnover. Management will literally be absent and unreachable.

Pros

Working at Sojourner has to about more than just a paycheck. It is about making a difference in our communities and working with families and individuals that have been impacted by Trauma. Great communication with your team, open door policy with all supervisors and directors, trainings weekly with different programs that partner with our programs, watching your residents succeed and move onto stability.

Cons

Honestly- the only cons about this job is that you can’t help but take home work “mentally” in your head. If you do not have the training or the experience, it can be overwhelming for those just entering the human service field just due to the trauma you might see or hear daily.
