      Miserable, pressurised environment. Regular redundancies; increased workloads. Brutal HR.

      Pros

      Excellent facilities in some buildings. Most colleagues. Solent Voice/UCU support.

      Cons

      Too many academics being made redundant leading to increased seminar group sizes and less individual for support students. Less time to research/update teaching content, so inevitably leading to lower standards. Unrewarding environment. Brutal HR management, unable to deal with (and sometimes even to acknowledge) bullying which has led to some catastrophic consequences. Promotions are often political rather than on merit. Academic workload planning system is unrealistic and designed not to acknowledge much of the work that needs to be carried out as part of the role if you care about your students’ university experience and outcome.

      pay, bank holidays off, Christmas shut down off, Easter shutdown off. pension scheme, alot of

      they treat their staff like second class citizens, don`t make staff aware of reasons for making terrible un needed changes to working practices, brush an awful lot of problems under the carpet and pretend they are not happening,and fob staff off. lie to agencies to achieve green impact awards and other things. not really an equal opportunities employer, just pretend they are on paper., don`t really care about the students, just the income from them . i could go on for ever!

      Money, insofar as they pay you it on a regular basis.

      Cons

      * Appalling management culture * Treacherous, mendacious culture of bullying * Lack of transparency and accountability ( Management speak and nonsense about 'values' conceals a corrupt and essentially vicious bunch of prats running the place into the ground.
