Pros

Great coworkers that are wonderful people.

Cons

During my employment at Solutions 2 Go, my experiences, both first hand and what I’ve seen other employees suffer through, is something that warrants documenting to let prospective employees know what they are in store for. The Finance Department of S2G is a travesty due to the horrifying mismanagement and the worst treatment of employees that I’ve ever seen in my entire life! The management of the Finance Department does not care for or respect their employees. At all! And I don’t mean disrespect based on professional standards, but even from a social and human perspective, people should not be treated this way. The expectations set by the C.F.O. and management of the Finance Department for employees, is to stay late, or as long as needed. And not during busy month-end periods, but on a daily basis. If hired by S2G, abandon your social life, and let your family know that you will barely see them on a weekly basis. Working from 9 am to 7-8 pm is not only a daily norm, but something that is actually expected by the C.F.O. and the management under him. And forget ever receiving any gratitude or even acknowledgement of this extra time that employees put in. Instead, their reaction to employees expressing any negativity over the hours, is one of derision and a dismissive demeanor. It’s simply expected, despite not making these expectations clear in the hiring process. And all of this is unpaid! These 3 or 4 extra work hours every day, are entirely unpaid. How a company is able to get away with making their employees work almost an extra 15 hours a week with no overtime pay, is mind boggling. And if you thought that unpaid weekday overtime was bad, the C.F.O. and management of the Finance Department also expect employees to come in on weekends! During my employment, I have seen this first hand, and heard from other employees that it’s been happening even before my time there. A group of employees from the Finance Department, have been working every single Sunday, always accompanied by the C.F.O. and management. Including the Sunday after the company’s own Christmas Party on the Saturday before. How sad that a company decides to show appreciation to their employees and families with a lavish Christmas party, but then expect them to show up for unpaid work the next day on Sunday. How the Labour Board has not been made aware of this company’s stunning mistreatment of its employees is astounding! And none of this is the wild accusations of a former employee. These are all documented practices by the management of the Finance Department. Employees outside of the Finance Department have noticed, commented, and been inconvenienced by this as some of them have had to stay late too in order to lock up after the Finance Department leaves. Multiple employees have left the Finance Department since the current C.F.O. has taken over. Managers, accountants, and many others. At last count, the number was 20+. All leaving due to these conditions. Other employees that have dared to disagree with the work practices, policies or even had a different social attitude (about working extra hours) than that of the C.F.O. and his team, have been blatantly fired. There is a clear environment of favoritism and politics going on within the department. The C.F.O. has actually perpetuated an environment of hiring unqualified employees solely due to former, social acquaintances with them. So it’s very clear that they want to work with people they get along with. And everyone else will be weeded out, through hook or crook! The Finance Department is now a toxic place to work. Employees walk on eggshells in fear of tantrums thrown by the C.F.O., or irrational witch hunts by the management if anyone makes the smallest mistake. Employees live everyday in constant fear of losing their jobs. People are working weeknights and weekends, unpaid, and at the expense of social and family lives, simply due to obligation and intimidation by the C.F.O. and the management of the Finance Department. The environment feels more like grade-school with petty politics and cliques, than a professional workplace full of adults.

Pros

Annual bonus, Annual raise & Christmas Party

Cons

the finance department is horrible, the overtime that is required/expected is uneccesary. work life balance was great until a couple years ago when the CFO was replaced. they micro-manage and watch you like a hawk. the CFO walks around like 100 times a day just to observe. If they don’t like you, they wil fire you. gossip from management is unreal.
