Dead end music licensing company

Pros

There are some great people on the staff.

Cons

Zero company culture, upper management does not listen to or engage consistently with staff. Thought this would be a new concept for the publishing industry, turns out it's just another licensing library with buggy tech.

Thanks for the feedback! We've come a long way since 2017 and work hard to continuously improve our tech and the way it enables all our products and services including sonic branding, rights management, project flow and the aspect you mention, our music licensing marketplace. We have some exciting product updates on the horizon. Hope you will come and check them out!

Avoid at all costs - Leadership only looks out for themselves

Pros

Being able to work remotely

Cons

Overall, there is a significant lack of clear direction and the necessary expertise in effectively managing a business. The frequent and abrupt shifts in what is deemed a priority not only undermine the business itself but also create an environment where failure appears to be an ongoing outcome. The leadership's inability to adjust to the situation is glaring. Despite professing a willingness to listen and engage with the staff's input, the presence of the CHRO being the CEO's wife corrupts any potential for a reliable source of support. The functionality of the products leaves much to be desired, and the opportunity for internal promotion within the company is nearly nonexistent. Moreover, a substantial number of those in leadership need for excessive control, which unfortunately translates into a lack of confidence in the employees' capabilities and a stifling of their autonomy. The compensation for individuals below the senior leadership tier is exceptionally low, which has led to a notable struggle in retaining talent. The company's approach to business practices and ethical considerations are poor. Profit seems to eclipse all other considerations, disregarding the significance of fostering positive relationships, valuing individuals, and upholding basic human rights. This is contributing to the failure of Songtradr.

Pros

The synergy among my former co-workers is what I miss.

Cons

The owner is condescending micromanager who has no clear vision for the company. He's constantly changing his mind about what needs to be done, and he makes it impossible for anyone to do their job effectively. The product team is also completely incompetent. They have no understanding of the music industry, and they're constantly coming up with new features that are completely useless or unworkable. The sales team is also terrible. They're constantly overpromising and underdelivering, and they're always putting pressure on the engineering team to build features that will never be used. As a result of all of this, the engineering is constantly working on half-baked ideas that are never actually finished. There's a lot of burnout and turnover of the team, and morale is at an all-time low.
