Sonic is faced with a shrinking market for most of its core products. They have made key acquisitions over the years, but seem to struggle with implementation and innovation. In spite of promising acquisitions, it seems Sonic is always behind the curve in terms of product features, user interface, user experience, and general market placement. To date, almost every social media outlet and user review site (not press or mag reviews) give Roxio products and customer service a poor to very poor rating.
Stale corporate culture rules both the main offices and teams pretty much keep to themselves and try to make sure their projects meet budget constraints and deadlines without ruffling any feathers. Corporate goals and vision are communicated through PowerPoint via webex without any initiatives throughout the year to participate in where the company is going. No incentives to employees to be a part of the larger picture or means of offering suggestions on products or services.
Come on, when most of the company jokes about how they would never install a certain flagship product on their computer because it would cause it to crash - how bad is that?
