Cons
My former company, Amply Media, was one of the top places to work in the United States. For the last five years we had won award after award due to the development of our culture and the profits gained from the resulting glut of talented, hardworking, and dedicated teammates. Amply Media was the only job where I have felt respected, acknowledged, and was encouraged to bring any idea or concern to any position within the company and have it built up or dealt with in a proper fashion. In October of 2022 it was announced we were purchased by Sonobi and our supersonic skyrocketing train of a company was immediately forced into jumping the tracks. From the get-go our benefits plummeted. Our phenomenal insurance was gutted to the highest deductible possible with a confusing secondary card to try and "make things right" to match our previous copays. HR was proud to announce to us that because our company matched 401k, their company was being forced to provide a plan. (It's 2022, what company with the capability of acquiring another doesn't currently provide a 401k plan? And why use the word FORCED as if it had positive connotations?) In further conversations it was revealed that their employees had never received raises nor evaluations/reviews. This process was being "implemented" for February to match our schedule. Anecdotally, my review was a quick phone call w to let me know I would only be receiving a 2% increase but to be happy because others were receiving nothing. The next week, in an after work phone call, I was told they had forgotten I was getting a promotion, with no increased pay. Sonobi did not have a plan on what to do with their acquisition nor did they understand the company they had purchased. Instead of taking the time to let things settle they stormed in without a business plan but with a camera crew (seriously). Within the first week reports of sexual harassment from the top of the company to our employees were being swept under the rug. This is a systemic problem that has been going on for years (check older reviews of Sonobi, they're there) and they have made it clear that this is the business and culture they wish to live with. In less than six months, Sonobi's mismanagement lead to a reduction in over 75% of the Kansas City workforce (80 employees to less than 20). HR met with key employees as the resignations started coming in. Promising promotions, pay increases, to really listen and react to our concerns. It's safe to say that promises were constantly made and unkept and the situation continued to grow worse. Their strategy was and continues to be to wait until an employee has an offer in hand and then try to match, never to try and fix the issues causing mass resignations. There is no indication that the top brass recognizes anything wrong with accidentally losing such a mass amount of talent in such a little amount of time. This trainwreck continues to barrel on, for how long I'm not sure, but avoid this company at all costs. Until major changes are made from the top down, there is nothing here but a caustic toxic wasteland.
