The mission really is how this organization gets employees who are so dedicated and passionate. The direct services staff are the ones who make all of the difference in the world to each of their clients. Years after leaving this organization and several former staff remain some of my closest friends after experiencing the most unhealthy work environment I've ever seen.
Cons
The list is exhausting. Facilities in dire need of repair, lack of concern for staff safety, poor training, low pay, and more. Hardly any staff are retained for longer than 6 months and SAAF has always been the lowest paying human services organization in the area.
One of the better managed non-profits I've worked at. Many supervisory staff have been with the organization for a long time. People are clearly passionate about the mission.
Cons
Low pay. Early response to the pandemic was very slow and suboptimal. Administrative staff who could easily have worked from home were still sometimes required to work in person.
