Cons
Cons related to the work environment created by two of the owners: - little to no transparency - conflicting, often changing directives, roles and tasks - regularly far too aggressive in language and tone to managers, staff and teachers (several specifically quit due to this treatment) - very cold and calculating making both harsh and often contradictory decisions - feedback and expectation of growth is one way - responsiveness is given a high priority when directed at others but many times emails go unanswered from some of the owners - the payroll system functions perfectly but the communication about pay is very often mishandled, requests for clarity/change of pay are missed/misread as well as coworkers miscommunicated with about what they will be paid after the fact - contracts can be sneaky (read them fully) - contracts and pay often left until the very last minute - once you are full time salary you will be squeezed relentlessly - very little regularity in work flow If you are taking a management or leadership position: - must thrive in harsh, irregular (multi-tasking is not accurate) work environment created by owners (not from the usual chaos of managing a business although there is that too) - create and maintain clear boundaries at the beginning (find out explicitly what will be your role and what will not) - read/write/edit your contract and get your value for what will be a massive amount of expected work - must be willing to (metaphorically) stand between owners and your staff - never do any work without having predetermined your contracted pay - be ready to be the organizational hub
