A horrible place to work.

Pros

I honestly cannot give one reason as to why a person would work at Sparkling, other than they service many pools and there may be one in a location that is convenient for you. However, you would be better served finding another company that is slightly less convenient--in the long run, you will be better served. While they might seem flexible at first, you will soon be asked to double up on shifts, drive to other zones without receiving compensation for gas, or asked to open a pool on a moment's notice.

Cons

Extremely disorganized, unfriendly staff in the office. Managers are young, inexperienced, and do not receive adequate training before going into the field--they're rarely helpful. Every manager I ever had quit after a few weeks, only to be replaced by another inexperienced, unenthusiastic employee. Guards are also paid poorly (relative to what other guards with similar experience may be paid at another company).

Pros

Some staff are friendly, but company is filled with drama and as a lifeguard you aren’t treated well.

Cons

Horrible supervisors, they don’t even listen when you need time off. I’ve worked 70 hour weeks through sun poisoning with no sympathy at minimum wage. Very hard to get promoted, and higher up management doesn’t care about their staff.

Pros

Everyone on your level gets treated like garbage along with you so at least you feel like it's not just you getting picked on. Created a "team" environment among co-workers.

Cons

Upper management knew nothing. Would blame you for every single problem even if it was due to them cutting corners (which was 90% of the issues that took place). Workload was beyond absurd. 30+ pools for 1 person to handle. Management blatantly lied to and verbally abused workers and patrons alike and then expected you to go to bat for them. Constantly forced to work extra hours and extra shifts and last minute changes and shifts or else you would be threatened to be fired, demoted, decrease in pay and every other thing you can possibly think of. Myself and plenty of others were called every horrible name you can think of whether doing something right or wrong. You do it right and they tell you how dumb you are and how you could be doing so much better. You do it wrong and they tell you how dumb you are and get threatened in some horrible way. Constantly lying about good things that are coming (raises, time off, etc). Not one got raises, no one got time off. They would call you on your so called "day off" which was not promised at all either and they would berate you and yell and scream about how you're the worst person ever and how you don't care about the company and your fellow employees because you're taking a day off.
