Pros

Once hired, they'll never get rid of you. Welcome to all lazy "push my work off" on someone else interested persons. You are allowed to show up late every day scheduled to work. Beg off to leave early putting a major strain on the other employees. Stand around and complain of how hard you "think" you work. Leave right on schedule even though your work is not complete. Don't worry about smoking policies if you happen to use vaporizers. I'd love to know what these employees have on management to keep their jobs.

Cons

You must pick up the slack for all of those who don't. When you are a conscientious hard working team player, (all) management knows it and knows you will get it done regardless for the good of the business and your coworkers. This causes great dissension among the ranks except to agree that nothing will be done. No raises for those to continue to work hard and smile no matter what. AND, there is no true medical benefits unless you are upper management. No RX coverage, only one trip of $75 paid one time to any doctor if they will accept that coverage.

Pros

You get birthday pay, discounts on alcohol, and usually a fun team.

Cons

I have NEVER held a job where they made me cry and management brags about how many other people they've made cry. The first one i worked at, i LOVED it but i was offered fulltime at a closer location and had to part. Management has changed three times in less than a year and nothing is communicated until last minute. Much of management has been immature or otherwise unable to do their jobs. They refused to hire more people until everyone is spread too thin to get done what they need to, and then DMs act like its everyone's fault. Because they don't want to hire people because they move a people with set schedules get punished and They have young people as management who don't understand adult lives and employees with kids. They also dont keep consistent rules but if they're in a bad mood, they suddenly like to enforce them and write you up. Management is power hungry and will be condescending towards you and say you're breaking rules but then they break the rules too, and often in a way worse way. All the managers attended a "Discipline without Punishment" seminar, and right after that, there were a few employees that got in trouble for something ridiculous and the DM had the security picture with all of their faces displayed at EVERY Specs in the area to embarrass them as a PUNISHMENT. Just like all the reviews have said, it's TERRIBLE communication and no clear set of rules. They punish you for calling in legitimately sick, taking away hours and making your schedule unreasonable

Pros

Great assortment of products. Very laid back atmosphere (so laid back to the point of being a con). The atmosphere was fun to work in. It was good to at least have a paycheck while between real jobs.

Cons

I applied here with 8 years of management from a fortune 100 company that brings in close to a billion dollars in revenue every year and was offered a laughable position as a stocker (had to take the job because i needed a paycheck). I was promoted 3 times in my 6 months here but getting management to push through pay raises was like pulling teeth. One of my raises was 12 weeks late and was short of the amount that was agreed on between the district manager and myself. Pay rates are very low unless you are in the management boys club. Management is VERY hands off at all levels. And you can forget about any performance coaching. HQ employees are very rude and not open to ideas and feedback. If anyone makes you any kind of offer on positions or pay GET IT IN WRITING. Luckily i was able to get out of this job and start somewhere that appreciates hard work and talent.
