Good people, bad management

Pros

The best thing about Spectrm is that some really amazing and driven people work there. There were four-day work weeks during the summer, which was great.

Cons

The company has had issues with communicating and being transparent with its employees, which has led to information spreading by rumors rather than openness and honesty. This means that once in a while there would be rather shocking announcements at the very last moment, rather than preparing staff in time for potential changes. Of course, this leads to a constant feeling of uncertainty and worry among the employees. In the same manner, they have a tendency to fire people without any warning and cutting them off everything immediately, without any further communication. Unfortunately, the modus operandi in these situations is ghosting as soon as they've given the news. Another MO is attempting to avoid paying what they owe employees they lay off. It’s also a very stressful environment to work in with very little, if any, time for personal development. And from above it seems like they’re expecting a rapid production line which means that quality suffers a lot. I wouldn’t invest my time with Spectrm given that even if you are being promised unicorns and rainbows, the risk of being let go at any moment, whether you are a new joiner or have been with the company for some time, is always present. The company culture took a real downturn during my time there.

Pros

Some of the people at the company are great

Cons

Constant pressure; working at 100% capacity, 100% of the time while trying to get 1% better every day is not sustainable Salary is often paid too late frequent burnout; no support when this happens The culture in the company has completely collapsed Career/training development is not prioritized - "self onboarding" and no exit interview Lack of recognition of work done / Lack of structure makes things feel chaotic. This has reduced my confidence in my work and impacted my approach to finding a new role.

Along this path of growth, finding our way and still deeply caring for our employees, mistakes do unfortunately happen. Growth often presents its challenges. We are glad to inform you that we are not only carving out an L&D plan but we are also taking active steps amongst Leadership and C-Level to avoid any of the above mentioned struggles. Our onboarding process is highly though through and strictly surveyed with in-person conversations plus a questionnaire. This onboarding process continuously receives great feedback from our new joiners. Nevertheless, we are rolling up our sleeves as we speak to reflect on your feedback and take away learnings. We would also love to offer an in-person conversation to speak about the mentioned points more in depth - as offered to any leaver. Strong product, struggled with paying people on time

Pros

Good product with lots of potential. The team is committed to the company and customers.

Cons

Struggled paying people on time and the basic admin. Payroll was frequently delayed without any communication or update. Unable to manage appropriate tax forms.

Paying employees in time is part of that and delayed payments are not acceptable! We assume that you were one of the two employees hired in the US where there were, in fact, challenges with the tax forms and some payroll admin due to certain local regulations.
