- Upper management at the company struggles to identify and communicate company objectives and competitive advantages
- The marketing department is very disjointed and does not have leadership that is knowledgeable on current marketing technologies or trends
- CMO is inept at role, and from the get go asked me what I was going to do, rather than giving me tasks to complete
- CMO lives out of state and only visits office about once a month. This further hinders the ability of leadership to establish a unified team
- No training
- Still in start up mode after many years in operation
- Very little willingness to work together among team members
Lastly, what I would initially consider a pro ends up being a con. Every now and then during a slow Friday afternoon the other guys in the marketing department would ask me to play computer games with them for an hour before going home. Well after terminating me, they denied my application for unemployment due to finding "2 hours of video games played at work." This is a very low blow and pretty disreputable in my opinion considering how much I saw the other employees play video games.
